It's being reported slowly by various UK based media outlets thoughout today.

Its fine though, we've got great bakckup in the center of defense, an untested 23 year old that has contumally played as RB and a 20 year old that looked way out of his depth the only time he played CB for the senior team. Yippee

I dont wnt us to sign people for the sake of signings, my gripe has been with how we've conducted our business for the 2nd summer trasnfer window in succession. We've been Arsenal level amateur, your happy with that, I'm not.

Thank Christ it closes in 3 days :)

I'm yet to see any semi reliable source report we've bid. It's been the same thing with him and Eriksen all summer. When Norwich had a bid accepted for him and Leverkusen for Eriksen we got all this crap linking them with us and the club briefed the press that we have no interest in either backed up by the fact that we didn't make any attempt to sign them when it looked like they were off.

We have 3 senior CBs + Coates (before his injury) and then 2 youngsters as cover. We are not desperately short of CB's, certainly not to the extent that we should go out and sign somebody for the sake of it, as you're suggesting.

Yesterday you were suggesting that we shouldn't have dicked around and paid up for Papadopoulos earlier in the summer (thank **** we didn't) and now you're complaining that we didn't sign a CB that the club scouted and decided wasn't good enough.

There is no point signing somebody that the club doesn't think is good enough nor is there any point spending ott on a player that we're not desperate for. You only have to look at the mess we've been in over the last few seasons regarding transfers to see that. We've made far too many rash decisions in the last 3 seasons that have proved costly from both a financial and football point of view; not only have we been paying a fortune to **** players (wages & transfer fees) but we've also been lumbered with them and therefore not been in a position to replace them.
Replace Coates? as in sell him?

That was the plan before he got injured, yea.
spending with a new stadium currently being built.

MW

What's the situation with that now? Last I heard (when you were going for the Olympic stadium) was that the stadium you released designs of was no longer feasible.

Saw it on RAWK then Ben Smith Tweeted it.

Smith's tweeted that both are due for medicals in the next 24 hours and that it doesn't mean Skrtel's off. I'd be very surprised if we're signing both and keeping Skrtel, especially when it doesn't look like Toure's injury is that bad. Although maybe the club are trying to keep Newbie happy - which does seem harder than keeping 5 senior CB's happy.

:D

I can't say I know anything about Sakho or Llori but Skrtel looks uncomfortable playing possession football and it's obvious Rodgers doesn't really rate him so it's probably best for both parties that he's sold.

I'd also like to see Wisdom sent out on loan because he's been utterly abysmal at CB and if that's the position the club see him playing in the future he needs games to improve and he won't get them at Liverpool.

Then we just need to sell Allen and it'll have been a successful window imo

Edit: D'oh, forgot about Borini, we must sell Borini as well!

This quote from wenger made me very unhappy:

:(

He will get fit but wont score any goals, thats the problem with that knobber. Grrr him and Diaby, 2 wage sucking leeches we just cant get rid of :(

Wenger reiterated his view that he was seeking more signings before the closure of the transfer window on Monday night, but said: “We will not do anything stupid for the sake of saying we have done something. I can lend you my phone and you will see that I have 50 players offered per day.

“I can understand that it’s very interesting for people to read the newspapers and see who goes in and who comes out. But the only thing if you really love football is what happens on the pitch. We have a way to play, we have good players, and let’s focus on that.”

That makes me sad, he just doesnt realise just how important it is for us to make some quality signings this summer :(

Real fans make me laugh, SSN just asking a few of them about Bale and they are saying oh cannot wait, so so happy to have him play for us blah blah blah...they probably havent even heard of Bale let alone seen him play:p

Absolute bovtash, i'm not trying to make you look like a mug on the forum. I'm genuinely trying to understand your view, I'm putting perfectly reasonable comments to you. You blame Wenger for everything though, you've never been critical of the board and the ideology of the football club/business when i've seen you post.

You quite specifically quoted me saying players are NOT attracted to Arsenal any more and that Arsenal fans were living in a dream land thinking the real madrid trio might sign.... you then told me that Arsenal can't attract such players and asked why I don't understand that.

This being your post and quote

Yeah players will choose the best team that is after them, naturally. They want to win stuff and play with the best players. City and Chelsea are streets ahead in terms of squad quality, it's not a level playing field. You can never seem to grasp that mate..

Try and follow, you quoted me saying no player thinks that Arsenal are a draw.... you then told me players won't choose Arsenal(in so many words) and asked how I can never seem to grasp that.

What I'm asking is, how did you miss, when quoting me, that it's precisely what I said in the first place. You're accusing me of failing to grasp a concept that you have actually quoted me as stating.

Seriously, can you read? You didn't "put a perfectly reasonable comment to me", you reworded my comment and asked me how I didn't get it?

Then you bang on in this latest post about board ideology, what has that got to do with anything I said, or anything you said?

Your comments had nothing to do with board ideology, and the board aren't at fault. It's this simple, Arsenal bring in more money at the new stadium than the old one, fact, we have at no stage had a lower revenue or been less able to spend money than before we moved, FACT. Arsenal are not hugely profitable because we've had a massively increasing wage bill along with all the extra income, the board do not take money out of the club... they could and clearly do not.

They are at fault, they should have fired Wenger 5 years ago at the latest, they didn't, but that is as much the Arsenal's fans fault who consistently come up with this "Arsene knows" trash and refuse to push the board to remove him.

I've not seen a great deal of either (particularly Ilori) but Sakho's a bit of a monster but lacks discipline and Ilori's supposed to be ridiculously fast. Ilori's an interesting one because he's barely played a senior game but the club seem to have made him a priority signing this summer - they must think he's got a big future.

Agree on Wisdom. He's got the raw materials to be a decent CB (got a bit of Kolo about him) but tactically and positionally he's a bit all over the place.

Sounds like Wenger didnt want to sign Flamini after all, guess Flamini managed to convince him to give him another go.

Interesting stuff from Wenger, guess he thought that its so late in the transfer window and we need a DM desperately that he thought might as well sign him. Can only hope this works out for us and Flamini.

Sky saying that Bender is in talks with Palace about a potential move...hopefully it will amount to him leaving us. Now to kill off Diaby:p

Wasn't sure if he was the good journo or the one that just guessed all the time.

I think him and tony barret tweet stuff regarding our transfers but can't recall which one is more right though I'd be very surprised if we got both

Smith's alright. I'm not sure how well connected he is at the club but he used to work with Barrett at the Times and I've always got the impression they share their info.
