Have to say I don't see what's in it for him unless they are paying huge wages and that's not like Arsenal, you can undertsnad the players going to Spurs as they seem to be trying to build somethign where this seems like a one off to placate the fans

Really?

Who is stronger:

Chesney

Jenkinson Mert Kos Monreal

Flamini Ramsey

Cazorla Wilshire Ozil

Giroud

Bench:

Podolski
Walcott
Verm
Arteta
Sanogo
Fabianski
Ox

Lloris

Walker Dawson Vertonghen Rose

Paulinho Capoue

Chadli Dembele Lamela

Soldado

Eriksen
Naughton
Friedel
Townsend
Sandro
Defoe
Adebeyor

Not including injuries or anything. Arsenal have a settled side, Spurs have a very much new-look team and are still playing dross like Dawson and Townsend. I think Arsenal, on paper at least, still look stronger. That is unless the likes of Lamela and Eriksen and so on set the world alight right from the off and all settle right away. It's unlikely for non-Prem based players. It takes time for players to get to grips.

Fixed. :D

Loving the name change Gilly, good work. :D

Ey?

Thank

Don't try and take it away from them!

It's funny that they all wanted Wenger out etc as they had no depth in defence and up front and that's what they needed to buy.

They've now got a player in a position where they are stacked and suddenly Wenger is god and they've magically lost all the other problems and can challenge for the title.

It's quite amazing.

Oh behave will you, the only fans i know that want Wenger out is DM and that jonny dude:p.

No what is amazing is that you lot cocking up the Herrera deal monumentally, you guys need a creative mid and yet you went out and bought Fellaini, who i think is a waste of money but time will tell if he does well.

Its quite amazing really at how utterly inpet Utd have become in the transfer window, truly amazing. How long before you lot are screaming for Moyes to be sacked??

You mean he could have gone to the team who we already beat this season with our average squad? Yeah I think you hit the nail on the head.

I said Spurs are "trying to build" not that they have got there

suppose on your theory we are a bigger side than Man Utd at the moment

£130k a week iirc, making him our highest paid player. We dont need to build like the Spurs have, we have a solid team and adding a quality player to it will only make us stronger.

I don't think anyone can argue that Özil wouldn't have been a sensational buy for any club in the Premier League. Sure, he might not play in a position that Arsenal necessarily needed - but in my opinion when a world class player becomes available, you take him.

I still believe the summer window has been overall poor for Arsenal. Big promises were made and the squad is still pretty thin injuries considered. I would have expected at least a striker of equal quality to Özil to arrive this window, but at least a new precedent is set now, Arsenal will pay top dollar transfer fees and wages. Once one world class player arrives it makes it way easier to sign others and I think that's the long term plan.

I imagine it'll be over the next 2-3 windows we see the new Arsenal fully emerge. Özil is a transformational signing for them.

You'd think arsenal are going to win the league and united are going to get relegated by some of the reactions in here

Yeah it's horrible when supporters are positive obout their teams. Especially with us actually spending money on a known player. Give us a day to enjoy it before DM adds it to his copy and paste walls of text :p

I don't think anyone honestly believes utd will get relegated but moyes isn't exactly enstilling confidence in the fans. Saying that, it did take fergie 10 years to win anything at utd so maybe he will turn good :p

To be fair, I've not really seen much that badly from either Arsenal or Man Utd fans (for the most part) it seems to be the neutrals that are reacting the worst.

I know Arsenal won't win the league, and Man Utd will challenge for the title. But that doesn't change the fact for arsenal, spending that sum of money on an already world class player is completely unheard of. Also, Man utd only signing Fellaini is also pretty unheard of, and really poor.

Some are, even better are the ones saying they didn't want Arsene gone even if they didn't directly say it, not just on here either. Now its '****ING PLAYED ARSENE, TOP LAD'. Mental they waited last minute to sign one player in a relatively crowded position which they already have massive quality

DM's already posted his negative one about Ozil costing too much etc. Although he had a point about other positions.

Just the same cycle as before, linked with Suarez 'we getting him yeeeeeees, haha liverpool', don't get him 'didn't want the rat anyways'

Now its the get rid of Arsene, signs a player, Arsene based god.

Don't believe all the doom and gloom. We have a strong first team. We added a goalie as backup, we added a DM in flamini who I think will be a bargain. Took a punt on a French kid.

We needed a goalie, CB, DM, and striker as back up.

Sagna has covered well at CB, we have flamini as cover for DM plus any position in back four. Walcott and podolski can play as striker.

AND we added ozil to team... I'm not too worried about the team as a whole especially when our injured players return.

Could wenger have picked more wisely? Maybe but improving our first team hasn't done us any harm.

it's the same as the Monreal deal, if Ozil walks in and replaces Walcott it's a genuine improvement, significant improvement, in the first team we can put out. But can Arsenal fans genuinely say that will happen or do we think Wenger's pet project will start regardless? Ozil is an excellent player, but significantly better than Cazorla or Podolski, no, and I'm about 85% sure he'll be replacing one of those players rather than one of our weaker players, meaning effectively a very small improvement in the team.

It would seem Wenger is "Arshavin'ing" Podolski, started dropping him towards the end of a very good season for no apparent reason to favour stupid players, then barely gets played the following season no matter how well he plays.

Podolski upfront, maybe, possibly, but how often, in what kind of form if he's not being used for months before Giroud potentially gets injured? Walcott upfront, do people remember the woeful woeful games of no chances when Walcott played upfront, he was absolutely and completely awful leading the line.

Flamini, aside from recently missing an entire season injured which is precisely what Arsenal wanted in a back up DM, is just that, back up. Wilshire is our DM unless we bought a top notch DM and had a spot in ACM for Wilshire to push into. Instead we've bought a stupid expensive player to put infront of WIlshire and pretty much made certain that Wilshire will only play DM for the forseeable future... while Arteta has been completely screwed.

Buying Ozil isn't simply the smallest actual improvement possible in the first team, its screwed up pushing Wilshire forwards. Not getting an out and out top notch DM has kept Wilshire in a combative role where he'll be kicked to pieces every game. I actually see Ozil's purchase as utterly screwing the development as Wilshire into the driving ACM he was always meant to be and pretty much made certain(till Ozil or Santi leave now) he'll be stuck in a DM role he might be very good at, but is no where near his best position.

As for Sagna as good cover at CB, Fenebache were woeful, one league game and he's been injury prone and very poor defensively for 3-4 years. You win titles based on how bad your worst players are more than how good your best players are, how good your cover is, how reliable and what form they can produce when called upon. Our awful rotation, poor quality cover and unreliable cover is what costs us over and over and over again every single year and its the thing that has gone completely and utterly ignored this summer.

Anyone with half a brain will realise that Wenger and the board have still been highly negligent. Spent way too much time on an unattainable target and have still left the squad thin.

I don't think he's done too badly in all honesty, also I read something a couple of weeks ago with Sagna saying he was having some sort of personal problems, over the last 18 months or so, and thinks it may have affected him, as he knew his performances weren't up to scratch. Maybe that could be sorted now? It would be nice, as he would be a very good player to have back on form.

I really rate Sagna overall. I don't think he was in best condition (for whatever reasons) last season but he is going to be so important this season, and he knows it.

Depends what you mean by 'bigger' but unless Rooney snaps out of it and maybe signs a new contract to motivate him I think we have equal chance of silverware.

I think chelski are favourites but letting their striker go was a mistake in my eyes. Utd, city and spurs will depend on how quickly they gel.

I'm happy with the team and look forward to our next game
