Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

They could offer huge sums compared to Atletico, Atletico can't offer what some of the Chinese clubs can, so it's about money, why hasn't he gone yet. He obviously only want's to go back to Atletico, he said that for years, the only club he'll entertain is Atletico, it was just about timing.

That quotation was from the Telegraph. If he wants to go to China, then why isn't he going? why has he said he doesn't want to go, he only want's to go back to Atletico. Chelsea would prefer to sell to China, they'll get more money, Costa will get a bigger wage as well, so if he's wanted to go, why hasn't he gone already?

I explained why. A new tax was introduced to stop Chinese clubs from spending fortunes on players from Europe. The move to China is now off the table.

The move was never on the table, he categorically denied he wanted to leave, he's only ever wanted to go back to Atletico.

But they could still offer loads compared to Atletico..

Ok, if you believe that. Nothing happened in January to lead to him being left out the side and 100 stories reporting he was trying to leave - maybe he and his agent met with reps of that Chinese club to exchange chow mein recipes.

You know that the papers make up 90% of the stories, don't you?
Look at what his quotes have been over the years and it creates a bigger picture.
You've no idea what Mendes was up to? If a club offer to meet you, pay for everything and ask to talk, it's called good will, doesn't mean you're literally moving to that club. Mendes has plenty of other clients that he could have talked about.

Yes, coincidently every newspaper made up the same story on the same day and it just coincided with Costa being dropped - all one big coincidence :) And Costa & his agent met with some Chinese club out of good will and a free meal :)

I know newspapers will exaggerate and make things up but when they're all reporting the same story it's a result of them being briefed that information. Who briefed them and why I don't know but I can't think of a logical reason why anybody connected to the situation would leak that story if it wasn't true.

And while newspapers make things up, so do clubs and players. As I said, clubs and players can be very political when it comes to pr around transfers. They all want to be seen as the good guy and will say things to paint themselves as the innocent party in all this.

They didn't make the story all at the same time, one copied the other because people will believe anything. Just check what Costa been saying for the last 2 years rather than believing a clickbait story that did the rounds for a week or 2. There's a consistency to what Costa has been saying, there isn't a consistency with the rumours to China.

"If the club really want to sell me, there's only one team for me.

"People talk too much about China. There's a World Cup (in 2018) and if I go to China I won't play in it."

I'll use my common sense thanks. If you do too you can usually tell how legit a story is. If you want to believe a pr line from Costa that's fine, I don't though.

I don't think either party comes out of this particularly well however you don't tell a player that played a big part in you winning the league that he isn't required by text. It's cowardly.

So Gabriel had left Arsenal for Valencia on a 5 yr deal. Shame it didn't work out for him, quite liked him but didn't think he was that good to have a starting place.

In more ridiculous transfer news, Inter have somehow made contact with Mustafi...truly lolworthy that is lol. Mustafi hasn't been with us that long and I haven't heard any rumblings that he wants to leave. But if it is true as lolworthy as it is, £100 mill and Inter are welcome to him.

Might as wel join in the ridiculous transfer fees being thrown about.
We wont miss Gabriel i think we are better off letting him go, Rob holding is much better. im not totally sold on Mustafi either be interesting to see what happens

Supposedly Barca have given Liverpool a deadline until tomorrow night to change their mind about their latest offer for Coutinho or they'll withdraw it :o

Maybe Conte didn't want his eyes gauged or have spit flicked on him.

It'll be aimed at Coutinho himself more than the club, if it's true. So basically trying to get him to kick up an almighty fuss/say he'll down tools/etc/etc. Not that it'll necessarily cause him to do that or work if it does.
I think Klopp has shown he won't take any player dissent with the Sakho situation. They're a team crying out for a commanding centre back but he won't play him because of what happened behind the scenes. Coutinho knows he needs to be playing to get in the Brazil squad for the WC next year.

It shows have much barca have fallen and how desperate there becoming.

They want countinho as you say to kick up a fuss like dembele has.

I honestly think barca were convinced neymar would stay

What were Chelsea thinking selling Matic to United... The more I think about it the more baffled I am.

United have been crying out for an experienced, quality defensive midfielder and we've sold one to them? Selling him at all made no sense never mind to United

You think? Such a short deadline over a game weekend doesn't give him much of an opportunity to kick up a fuss. I suspect it was more a case of hoping we were bluffing and to get us to at least negotiate with them, if not accept the offer.

Not convinced. If their message was aimed at Coutinho then why not make it direct to him? It would be far more convincing to Coutinho if Barca didn't give Liverpool a deadline but instead told him directly that they'll have no choice but to look elsewhere if the deal isn't done by x. By giving the deadline to Liverpool it just looks like a negotiation tactic from Barca to force Liverpool to come to the table and won't be as convincing to Coutinho.

It is if they believe Liverpool's stance is just to get Barca to increase their offer. I touched on it earlier, if you look at the structure of Barca's offers I'm sure they weren't expecting Liverpool to accept them straight off - it appears like they wanted to bring Liverpool to the table to negotiate without showing their hand too early.
