Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

So with all the extra TV money floating about and record amounts being spent by seemingly everybody, has any side ended the window completely satisfied with their work?

Actually im pretty chuffed with our transfer window (leicester) we needed a couple of decent centrebacks , a quick striker to play behind vardy ,a strong midfielder and someone who can pass in midfield

we brought in
harry maguire cb 17m
dragovic cb bayer leverkusen (1 year long)
iborra cdm 12m seville
adrien silva cm 23m (portugal international) from sporting lisbon
inheacho st 25m

also managed to keep mahrez, vardy, ndidi and kasper and slimani

yes we sold drinkwater for 35m but to be honest he has been poor since the title win and without kante so profiting by 34m helped ,with incomings and outgoings like zeiler and mendy our net spend this window was around 35m and i feel weve improved the squad .

if they can gel we could have a pretty solid team , we now have 2 defenders who can pass the ball and a midfielder who can pass also so hopefully hoofing to vardy wont happen so much :)

hopefully we will go

-----------------------------kasper---------------------------
simpson----------maguire----------dragovic-----------fuchs
------------------silva---------------ndidi-------------------
mahrez----------------------------------------------gray/albrighton
--------------nachoman--------vardy------------------------

I fear for the LWB position, we shouldn't of let Gibbs go, perhaps he wasn't guaranteed 1st team football, could be a reason he wanted to leave. Monreal would be better at LCB with Kos at CB. Unless Arsenal go back to 4 at the back, it's maybe what is on Wenger's mind, they'll eventually go back to that system. It's good Arsenal have been playing with a completely different system for a while, I've always thought it essential to be able to play different systems..

Seems like Wenger will still try and sign Lemar at some point. Said pretty much that we will be going back for him. I do wonder if we had signed him earlier in the summer, would he still have refused to come to us.

Wonder if this is being set up for the Jan transfer window.

Seems dumb. The player rejected the move. What's going to change between now and january? If anything better odds on coutinho to Barca and lemar to liverpool. Cup tied for champions league so would expected that move to be more of a summer window thing 2. January change really doesn't suit cl.

Monaco have said they stopped him moving and that he was up to a move to the PL and he would have gone to Arsenal if it was a possibility. This contradicts Wenger saying Lemar decided to stay at Monaco.

Lemar rejected the move because it was last minute, he wanted it done weeks ago when arsenal were going in with silly bids messing about instead of paying what monaco wanted, we could have got mbappe last summer also but wenger refused to pay his family a kick back of 6-7 million, another one wenger let slip away

That theory's not supported by the reports that he wanted to join Liverpool who were also bidding for him at the last minute.
But on deadline day liverpools bids where both rejected so they were never in with a chance before the window closed. and like i said if wenger paid what monaco wanted he would have been an arsenal player at the start of the window

I've only just realised that Markovic didn't leave. It'll be interesting to see whether he gets a look in between now and January.

It sounds to me as we both wanted him as a replacement for sanchez/coutinho

I'm aware we didn't have an offer accepted but it was widely reported when we were bidding that he wanted the move and also reported that his reason for rejecting Arsenal was because he wanted to join Liverpool. If he was willing to move to Liverpool then the idea that he rejected the Arsenal move simply because it was last minute doesn't stack up.

I think it's safe to say that he was being signed to replace Sanchez for Arsenal and it was only due to the Lemar deal not happening that the Sanchez deal fell through. As for Liverpool & Coutinho - I'm honestly not 100% sure. Even when bidding for Lemar we maintained our stance that Coutinho wasn't leaving under any circumstances. Going into deadline day we were being linked with moves for both VvD and Lemar, possibly costing £150m+ and would have took our net spend to around £200m for the window. We had money to spend this window after not spending anything last year but my gut feeling is that we wouldn't have signed both without Coutinho leaving.

Based on nothing more than a hunch, I think Liverpool went into the Lemar deal with the idea that if they could get him and end up with £x left over from the Coutinho sale (£70m for arguments sake) then they'd have done the deal. As soon as Lemar's fee started went from £60-70m to £90-100m, there wouldn't have been enough money left over to make the deal beneficial to Liverpool.

He would have joined arsenal or liverpool after the window is being reported, on the actually day Liverpool's bids were rejected and we never knew what he was thinking, Liverpool were never in for him in the closing stages (like after 6pm) Guillem Balague did a video about an hour before the window closed explaining that the link was from Lemars side not liverpool that they never expected to sign him, he also reported the story of Giroud. Lacazette, Koscielny etc trying to convince him. its just typical wenger though, the fact that we bid 92 million is a joke, we could have got him for 50 at the start, but we offered like 30 and then 34. And its ridiculous that he was being signed as a replacement when we need to strengthen

Yes and as 10000 people pointed out to Balague, he also tweeted prior to that saying Liverpool were in for him. Had it been the case that the stories were only coming out of France then maybe it was just talk from Lemar's camp but every journo that covers Liverpool were reporting that we were in for him. These journo's don't have contacts in Monaco, there info was coming from Liverpool's end.

Again, this idea that Lemar didn't want to move on deadline day doesn't stack up. If, as was reported, he was happy to join Liverpool on deadline day then it's fair to say that the timing of the deal made no difference re Arsena's bid.

It does stack up though, can you imagine being told arsenal have bid for you, club rejected , arsenal bid, club rejected . Now all the talk at this time 5 weeks ago Lemar wanted the move just needed the fee hes waiting! then nothing for 4 weeks, he's moved on thinking its not gonna get sorted and then arsenal come in with 92 million about 8pm, when hes playing a match for france! hes probably thinking what a bunch of cowboys, which lets be honest we are. It doesn't matter now anyway as we both wont get him, he'll go to barca, they need to make some major signings or face losing Messi
