Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

I bet it's so depressing creating an Arsenal lineup
Not really, we still have a good squad, we just need them to pull it together. It's just other teams are loving the fact we are going through a bad spell. It's not a great time to be a fan but at least we can never be considered glory supporters lol

Next game they need to come out fighting and show a little more passion. Sanchez is here until January and I believe he will do his best. A little luck and we could maybe have a cup run. We still won something last year which is more than most.

It does when he can help us get top 4. thats worth 50m alone.

its about time clubs took a stance over players.

And what if he doesn't? Do you ever consider any other possibility??

He must be absolutely seething that he didn't get his move in the end.

Indeed, Wenger just needs to stop tinkering around with the squad. Play them in their natural positions and fingers crossed things will get better. Also stop making excuses for players, Lacazette should be playing...it's the only damn way he will get used to the PL.

He's threatening to strike according to reports. He never wants to play for us again. Moody little ****. If you don't want to play for Wenger or the board, fair enough, but at least play for the fans who pay your wages and come to see you and support you every week. I hate modern football.

I can't see us getting top 4 but suggesting Sanchez won't make a difference is pretty crazy! He's a world class player who puts 100% in every time he plays. So in terms of skill and effort he is way beyond anyone else we have. The amount of goals he's either scored or assisted in has been pretty phenomenal considering the team he's in. I believe most of the bad blood is due to him moaning about the other not pulling their weight, can't complain about that at all. I suppose the questions are, will he maintain his work rate and will what he contributes be worth more than 60 mil? (which won't get spent on the team anyway so does it really make much difference anyway?).

According to this site: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/transfers/wettbewerb/GB1, we actually made 14 million this window. Looking at the top few teams:

Chelsea spent 180 mil with a net of spend of 72
Man United spent 147 mil with a net spend of 140
City spent 220 mil with a net spend of 133
Spurs spent 80 mil with a net profit of 11
Everton spent 142 with a net spend of 45
Liverpool spent 80 with a net of spend of 40

They've all invested a huge amount of money apart from Spurs who having lost just Walker of note only needed to add a few squad numbers anyway. Even Bournemouth and WBA have spent more than 30 mil net!

How on earth can a team that was so far off the pace get rid of 9 players, buy 2 and make profit and still expect to compete? Do we have money to spend or not and if we do WTF is Wenger thinking?

+£4.5m from the sale of sig to everton. still running a fairly tight ship

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (£40m), Wojciech Szczesny (£13.5m), Gabriel (£10m) and Kieran Gibbs (£7m)

Campbell and Perez on loan.

Was expecting a few more to go to be honest, that being said, I also expected a few more to come in. Cannot believe we never signed anyone else...

We finish out of top 4 and instead of spending more to get back in and show ambition, we end up making a profit in the transfer market. Lol. Stan must love Wenger ❤️

I wonder what will come of Sanchez and Ozil. New contracts, sale in Jan window or they walk for nothing next summer.

If we do not win anything and don't get top 4, the fans are going to be even more vile this year. Those guys on Arsenal TV will go mental.

Reports of barcelona going after Ozil as coutinho alternative as the Spanish window shuts tonight. If he leaves id like to see a return to 4-3-3:

---------------- Cech
Bellerin-mustafi-kos-kolsanic
--------------- Coq-----------
-------------------Xhaka--------
------------Ramsey----------
Walcott-----------------Sanchez
------------- Lacazette----------

I would swap out Ramsey for Ozil, maybe use Ramsey as sub/rotate him with Ozick and Xhaka.

---------------- Cech
Bellerin-mustafi-kos-kolsanic
--------------- Coq-----------
-------------------Xhaka--------
------------Ozil----------
Walcott-----------------Sanchez
------------- Lacazette----------

The only positive I can take from this transfer window is that Arsenal have trimmed the squad considerably, not necessarily by selling the correct players but just by getting a lot off the wage bill. We definitely had a bloated squad, can't believe we still have Debuchy, how is that leech still at the club!

Maybe Arsenal will offer Sanchez a 1 year extension with a promise that he will be sold next summer if he still want's to leave just so they can demand money for him and hopefully get good performances from him for the season ahead.

My main worry is the defence, Kos is injury prone and age is not on his side, mustafi looked like he wanted to leave, should have got in a quality defender early in the window.

Really disappointing.

Above in the transfer picture, Fazio, Walker , Wimmer, no idea how much game time they got but I would say spurs done very well strengthening this area.

Surely only time will tell whether they've actually strengthened. It's not as if they've added players to this area, they're just replacing Walker and the cover they had at CB before.

The only obvious area of improvement made by Spurs is adding a bit more depth to their striking options. The rest of their signings have just been replacing squad players in positions where they were strong anyway. I can't understand why Spurs didn't try to add another goalscoring midfielder or wide player - that's the one area of their side which they're short and would take a lot of the goal burden of Ali & Kane.

Son and Eriksen take some of the burden off them already, hopefully when Lamela gets back he will play like he did before his injury too.

Seen the rumours of Sanchez striking, I cannot see it yeah he didn't get a move but with the World Cup next year he will need to play (questionable heart maybe).

Still disappointed with the lack of centre back and midfielder, I would like to think wenger trimmed the wage bill/squad for a new manager to come in and add to with the saved transfer budget :p

Yea tbf Son stepped up last season, particularly when Kane was injured - whether he can do that again remains to be seen as he's only ever been a 1 in 3 player throughout his career. Eriksen got a few goals but no more than anybody that plays in his position - he's not somebody you pick out as a genuine goal threat at the start of a game. It wouldn't be so much of a problem if your CM's were scoring 10-15 goals between them. As it is, you're pretty threadbare in attack and still look overly reliant on Kane & Ali to score the goals for you.

Our net spend has been £78m if you factor in players sold in January (none were bought).

Arsenal should have sorted out Lemar sooner, Sanchez might not be helping much this season, he apparently creates dressing room problems and now they've lost out on £60-70m. Difficult situation, admittedly...

Did Sanchez hand in a transfer request? City only made a bid on Tuesday. Only really has himself to blame for not sorting it out earlier in the window.
