Summer Transfer Window 22/23

How? What source? I love the fact that something that is confidential and private yet everyone on the planet seems to know the details of it yet the reality is no one has a clue and spouts rubbish.
What source? Every national media outlet. When they all come out reporting the exact same details it's almost always because they've been briefed the details.

And didn't this debate start with you claiming Casemiro only cost £15m more than Mane. I take it you sat in on both transfers and saw the contracts? You were obviously not going off media reports.

There are other players being touted as potential players they want to sell though, e.g. Depay. That being said if the FdJ wages are as big of an issue as reported, I'm sure selling him is still desirable financially.

Multiple reliable sources, and they find out because the club's brief them. How on earth do you not know this stuff yet?

They need to offload all three of them really. Will only be in the same situation next summer and the summer after that.

Yeah when he's fully fit he is a very good defender, but the first part is so rarely true. Seems it will become permanent if he plays enough game for Marseille.

I think his rashness is the reason why he got injured so often. He would do some crazy last ditch stuff and end up injured all the time.

If he is going on loan I guess that means Maguire is staying.

The Maguire thing was never happening, it would cost us more to replace him. If there was a better defender available out there for less Chelsea would just go for him.

United will go in for Antony with a bid of 100m euros (£84.5m).

Eth needs to let it go and find new targets.

He would never go in for of player of Antonys quality for this price if he was still at Ajax. Or even half this fee despite Ajax having that kind of money due to player sales.

At 80m+ you're basically talking top 5 players in the world. Antony wouldn't even be top 5 in the EPL.

It's like any financial sense EtH had before has been completely wiped away and he's panicking because his base tactics from.ajax which were successful at Ajax are completely failing here.

And sadly when he gets fired in 6-12 months we will be left with 3-4 players who cost us nearly 300m who are worth less than 100m combined.

if you want an Ajax 'winger' then Ziyech will be cheaper than Antony - better stats and has played here do knows what the league is about.

I just want us to pick up a few players for 13m like Antony did less than 2 years ago and sell them on 2 years later for 50m to 85m.

Or like Martinez, buy a cb for 6m then sell him 2 years later for 60m.

Do that a few times every year and suddenly your transfer budget can look very healthy indeed.

In the last 6 years we have had an overall transfer deficit of around 600m. Yup spent 600m more than we earnt back.

Ajax on the other hand tend to run at a 50m surplus each year.

And sadly we are in no better position than we were 6 years ago either really.

Infact i guarantee we will take a loss on Martinez, Casemiro, Fred, Maguire, Sancho, Bissaka, I.e virtually all of our big signings. Only fernandes might break even.

I never asked you any of that?? You’re whining on about our transfer budget but spending hasn’t really been an issue at OT, as far as I’m aware.

It's a problem because we are left with virtually nothing.

Unsellable players which will mean we can't buy the actual players we need.

And players who cost so much they can't easily be dropped, moved on and who under perform.

Leading to a -5 goal difference and 0 points after 2 games.

Looks like the Antony deal is likely to happen as Ajax can’t realistically turn down £70m~.

I think he looks a very exciting player but far from a guaranteed success, look how Sancho has struggled. He looks a bit like Saint-Maximin, explosive and exciting but also inconsistent.

He’s very keen to join though which is a positive. Seems to have an excellent relationship with ETH.

Gakpo would have been £40m~ so they’ve probably just decided to pay the extra and get the first choice target.

I’ve read that Gakpo is very hit and miss too.
I think I’m of a similar mind to you in paying the extra. Still a ton of money though for someone who’d probably be half that in normal circumstances.

I really hope all this comes together in the next few months and we start to see some development, the signings come together and work out and we exhibit some kind of positive way of playing.

… and Maguire is pinched by Chelsea. But that’s a pipe dream!
