Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Who do you think is a better judge of this, you? Or ETH who has actually coached both?
Lol, nice goalpost shift. You originally wanted better value options, Ziyech is one, half the price, better stats from his time in at Ajax. If your response to any one listed is going to be 'whose a better judge' then is a redundant question.

It’s a valid point though. ETH clearly rates Antony very highly and that is ultimately what matters.

Chelsea have quoted Ajax €45m for Ziyech, they’d want more than that from us. He’s 29 as well, not 22.

No it isn't at all. They're two players that ETH is more familiar with than any other coach. If Ziyech was a better player and he was cheaper why wouldn't he go for him? At least name a kid from Sweden that you found on Fifa or something, don't go for one of his former players :D

Don't forget this is is a guy who coached and wanted to spend 8m+ on Arnoutovic until the fans basically vetoed him.

I'm not sure anyone is saying that Antony is bad... but early getting reemed big time for him is such a terrible approach.

Fergie wouldn't have stood for it and would have just bought someone else.

ETH has had months to identify players. Not get fixated on 1 at a buy at any cost scenario. He's just not that good. Look at the stats I posted compared to Neymar. Neymar sure you'd take a chance on a big money move... Antony not so much. Even the guy city signed 22, 55 goals, 15m. Not 100m euros

The board should have been identifying players he wanted. ETH has only been there a couple of months. All this shows to me is that the board had no clue and now ETH is trying to save face of the club by going for players he knows.

Eth has known he would take the utd job for months and should have brought his ajax short list with him to utd.

I'm not sure it's the boards job to tell the manager what he needs. Surely the manger would say I need a great left winger and then the scours either find the one he needs or gives him the dossiers on all the ones they have been scouting and he picks and the board sanction it and go out and do the deal.

If it works out not financially viable or he doesn't want to come, you go to plan b, or c.

Not overpay for someone who isn't amazing

Seriously? You expect a new manager to start planning transfer targets before he's even met and started working with the current set of players?

I'm sure he'll have already had some thoughts and ideas on areas where he might like to improve the squad and maybe some key players he'd like to try and bring in, but you're living in fantasy land if you think it should be as easy as you make out.

For a club in Uniteds position where we have a squad that (because of various factors) went from 2nd in the league to 6th in the league over the course of a season means that any new manager wouldn't really know what he was walking into. Hes got a huge job to do and hes got a squad that isn't really built to do anything particularly well. Let alone what EtH wants to do.

I don't think its as easy as some of you suggest when you have hundreds of millions of pounds worth of players and will be spending hundreds more.

You think he didn't watch tape or speak to Rangnick before even making the decision?

Utd are on tv every week its impossible to not watch us, so yes if i was him I'd have a list ready before I even came to OT

There comes a point where the money is just insane for Antony and I think we have passed that point now. Ajax are taking the pee.
