Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Kane is price alone but he will be 29 come the start of next season. Something about him makes me think that hes not going to be elite level at 34.

Rice is just going to be insanely expensive and I'm still not 100% on him. Good player but WH have looked better at times without him.

Mainly I just don't see us getting value for money when we spend big most of the time. And signings like HK and DR would be expensive and not transformative for United. If you want to transform United you need to transform the culture and the style of play. Then you can start worrying about the icing on the cake.

That's fair enough re: price, I've seen quotes of £150-200 million for Rice  Personally I think he's a top player but that's silly money.

Kane should be good well into his 30s unless his gammy ankles give way imo, sure I read he doesn't drink and things like that so probably looks after himself pretty well. Obviously only time will tell.

Problem is that our squad is so poor that we need half a new first team!

Personally I think Rice is what we need to steady the midfield....some bloody brains and composure, making the right decisions, in the right place, at the right time.

If not Rice himself, then someone in that mould.

Rice would be a silly signing. He isnt anywhere near as good as people think he is and would cost 100mil.

If not more, man city paying 100 million for the last English media darling has set the minimum price. Then again it wouldn't surprise me if man utd go for him and end up paying 150 million odd - they do enjoy paying over the odds for over-hyped English players.

Who do you get in that costs less?

Purely as a DM? Ndidi or perhaps Bissouma from Brighton.

If United signed Bissouma, Lamptey and say Tielemens they are far better then they are now. Pogba, Martial and Ronaldo out,

At the end of the day United will have a very big scouting team, they should be able to find a DM for a reasonable fee. If you believe the reports, West Ham want 150mil...theyll never get that but they clearly will want above 100mil which is frankly insane.

For 150 mil i imagine you could sign Lamptey, Nkunku and Tielemans tbh.

This is my feelings aswell for that money you could get 2 players better than we have

For 150 mil you could get three. Tielemans would be a good signing for United. Can play a couple of different roles, wouldn't be all that expensive. The big outlay would be a player like Nkunku as he seems to be wanted by a few but if you believe the rumours of Ronaldo leaving then his wages quickly cover the lads coming in.

Footballers are going to have to start thinking about the length of deal they sign. Rice isn't worth anything more than 70m but the length of his deal means you either pay what West Ham wants or he rots at WestHam. Moyes stated they would want 150m, now if this was 18 year old Wayne Rooney then maybe, but it's Rice, You don't spend that sort of money on a player of his position and ability. The money now has sky rocketed to places that clubs cannot even pay, Man City paying for the latest 'media darling' was stated above, but they didn't start that, they were forced to pay it from the deals that went before that. Lukakus fees, Courtinho etc etc.

Young and English means his price quadruples.

Ok that’s fine…sign Tielemans instead for a third of the price.
Tielemans is quality and only 24, but has been quite inconsistent at Leicester. Almost anonymous in some games then springs to life for a game or two then disappears again. I'd love Liverpool to sign him, especially if he's available for £25-£30m as he apparently is, but he'd need to up his game to play Klopp's way. Only 24 though so still has a potential peak to make in the next 2-3 years.

It’s only this season that Rice has decided to successfully pass a ball to be fair. Tielemans for the price being bounded about is a no brainer for me.

There are very very very few players worth over 100m IMO. For that money I would want almost guaranteed returns. No DM in the world is worth that. Very very few strikers are as well.

Over 70m for Rice is madness. £100m is insane.

Wouldn't pay more than 40 or 50m for rice or kane tbh.

Man utd are pretty much screwed tbh. Its not like we have £100s of millions to spend. If you look at the financials, I would say our net spend needs to be around £80m max for this summer and even less so with no UCL. When we need a whole squad rebuild.

I literally want all players out, except elanga, de gea, sancho and Fred (has work ethic and may be decent under a new manager), and start fresh.

Said this about 12 months ago on a Utd forum and they thought I was mad.

Rice is a 40-50 mil player and if West Ham had any sense if anyone offered close to 100mil they should snap their hands off just like Everton should have when Barca came for Richarlison.

Buuuut remember its how much the player is 'worth to the club' especially if they don't want to sell.

So to West Ham, he is worth a lot because he would have a large part in helping how far up the table they end up/Europe = more £££££££££.
