Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Early reports that we might be in for Rabiot again (from L'equipe). Whether this is just 'they were in for him last year and now he's free = article' or more than that we'll see. He's had a very good season and might be a good option for a ball progressing midfielder to play alongside Casemiro because Eriksen can't play every game.

The whole Rabiot saga is such nonsense. The guy is, and always has been, desperate to play in the premier league, he doesnt even care who its for. He is just seeking a payday before his career is over. I've followed the various "links" of Rabiot in the last 6 years, at various points he has been "allegedly" set to join Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd , only side in the top 6 that I havent seen him linked with is Man City. Its the same old story every time a transfer window comes round we hear some leaks (probably from his agent) that X premier league team wants him and nothing ever comes of it. No big team in Europe ever seems vaguely interested in him

It's pretty clear we were close to a deal last year but couldn't agree personal terms.

If it was me , I'd be steering clear of him. A guy who has shown that he doesnt really care which big team he joins in the premier league isnt the sort of player I would want at my team
..you signed a forward in January who was twerking for us all summer. Very few players will only want to go to one club, that is a ridiculous thing to want in a signing.

I can live with someone changing their mind from 1 team to another, thats different to a guy who has touted himself to 5 different teams in 6 years though. As I say, he smacks of someone who just wants a payday before his career ends and he knows the best chance of that payday is the premier league

Tierney was always likely to be sold because he doesn’t fit the demands of what Arteta wants from someone in his position. Zinchenko’s defensive frailties are accepted because in a cost/benefit analysis what he offers elsewhere is deemed more valuable (something largely borne out in front of us this season).

Xhaka looks set to go as well which whilst a little surprising given the season he’s had, but at 30 and looking to make the team even better, now would be a good time to do it. Then there’s all the people on loan, Nelson, Balogun (Pepe!) etc. Got to be ruthless to make the team better.

I know we been linked multiple times and Howe seems to be a fan.

Has his injuries been bad luck or recurring problems?
A mixture of both.

Recurring hip issues at Celtic which carried on during his early Arsenal career, but has suffered a couple of unlucky ones too. Unfortunately, as good as he is, he lost his place because his fitness couldn't be relied on and Zinchenko's ability on the ball has added a control that Tierney's more traditional dynamism doesn't allow. Tomiyasu is better at that inverted role too and was preferred to Tierney for a period.

I could envisage Tomiyasu becoming the de facto challenger to Zinchenko, and Arteta targeting a flexible right back/centre back. Another Ben White type of player.

A fit Tierney is an excellent fit for a team utilising a traditional fullback role.
