Sunday Times to investigate OLED Screen Burn Issues

Do those people use it solely for gaming and nothing else? Games with HUDS prominent on screen?

That's me. I've completed the last 3 Assasins creed games on my LG C9, played each one in HDR and all of these games feature the exact same HUD design and it's in the same location. No burn in yet. I've also completed dozens of other games which have their own HUDs and no burn in after 4200 hours

Potentially could get one next year then if john lewis still offering the burn in guarantee as back up. Getting an XB1X next month so will wait for them to go EOL in Jan and buy

How long have you had your c9? 2 years? And you've spend 4200 hours or 175 days gaming on it? Sounds unhealthy.

Have you guys had any luck getting screen replaced on iPhone, Samsung, iPad, laptop and every other OLED product? My keyboard has an OLED mini screen on it, can I get a new keyboard when it has burn in??

On another more extensive burn in thread that I check from time to time C8 owners have been reporting burn in lately so expect C9 owners to follow next this coming year. Seems to be happening around the 3 year mark.

However, I haven't seen anyone pushing and not getting a resolution. Retailers are powerless on the matter as the law is clear and are only hoping that you're not aware of your rights and you don't push for a refund or replacement.

And..... my so called repair tv is faulty.. on initial setup a hi pitched whine can be heard. Once setup was done, the qhine disappeared.... but once you go from volume 0 to 1 a high "click" sound happens and what sounds like a gas leak emminates from the back area... raising the volume allows the tv sound come on naturally but the gas sound is still at the back of the tv. Sent a video to LG and waiting for the inevitable pick again. I knew a 24 hour turnaround was too good to be true. No proper testing.

How annoying. If it was a plasma I would have made a joke about it leaking :p. Wonder if some caps are about to explode?

After 4 days of pestering I’ve finally got lg to agree to take it for repair again….. but they also said if it gets to them and they deem it not caused by the repair that THEY did…. I have to pay again …… I don’t think so. They sound was fine when it left my house….. and it’s faulty on its return… I hope I don’t have to take this further :(

Update for other people in my position.

My tv came back last week after it’s 2nd repair. Working perfectly. And after getting LG to send me an email of the work done and my confirmation of payment to fix it, VERY have finally agreed to send me a cheque to cover my bill. They’ve sent my an email confirming this as well. So result

Thanks for these updates, I found them very interesting as I bought my TV from Littlewoods and am now in a similar boat to you. My set was bought in August 2016 so according to very, I guess that means that I would be entitled to 0% refund, this despite paying almost £3.5k...I would expect a tv costing so much to last longer than 5 years.

I have made some initial contact with LG (live chat) & whilst they said that the panel needs to be replaced, they did not offer me the £200 repair as they don't have any B6 panels in stock. In fact, they told me to try Curry's for a repair. I have followed this up with an email to LG to say that I feel that this response is unacceptable and am now waiting for a reply.

Would you be willing to share the correspondence that you had with LG and Very, it would no doubt prove to be extremely helpful?
