Super Southern Meet (turn it up to) XI

My only question is does Acme talk as much as he posts? :p

RS6 looks (and sounds) like an absolute hoot. May attempt to come to the next one, couldn't face turning up in a car even worse than you-know-who's.

As we turned into the road for the pub, apparently some dog walkers jumped out infront of Ian (i think). He just drove by, and then they tried to stop someone else, and we were all queuing up behind.
They seemed to take exception to us driving down their road. At the time we were all driving very slowly too, so basically we all just ignored them whilst they were giving everyone evils, and moaning.

I think some words were exchanged between some of the guys up front, not much more than that :D

Freefaller got called an idiot for basically being in the road not even doing anything stupid. Typical old tarts moaning about nothing at all.

I had a road rager have a massive go at me on the motorway too lol.

I was behind FF at the time.

He went round 90 degree corner into a single track side turning fairly rapidly but not in an out-of control manner, and quickly noticed that there were some muppets walking in the road so slammed on the anchors and stopped dead. The lady called him an idiot and continued walking, then the gent and FF had a disagreement about how his wife shouldn't be calling people an idiot, and that FF needs to slow down and wise up etc, after this to-and-fro had finished, they walked on, and FF responded to the situation by leaving some smoky number 11's and disappearing off up the road, meanwhile I was ****ing myself laughing. :D

I also enjoyed how they gave FF abuse, walked straight past my Skoda without so much as a glance, and then gave the people behind me abuse too... (the boosted MX5 chaps) :p

To be honest, FF probably should have taken the corner a little more cautiously, but at the same time, people shouldn't be walking their dog in the road for no apparent reason...

Er it wasn't me who tyre squeeled round the corner mr Acme...

The dog walkers were a good 50m up the road from the bend, which was a hairpin so we couldn't do much more than 10mph round it either. We got up to maybe 20mph when I spotted the dog walkers and slowed right down. They just took exception to a bunch of relatively young men in fancy cars making an assumption that we were racing. The dog walker was so obstinate, self righteous and frankly irritatingly arrogant. I was trying to reason with them. The burn out was immature of me and undermined the points I was making but I was irritated and it was funny. :o

The rest of the story from Acme's perspective is accurate.

There was no abuse directed towards me or Vigoro, don't even think they me any funny looks.

It was an enjoyable day out, even if having the roof down all day did result in very slight sunburn :/

I was impressed by the ability of the 750i - despite taking it easy around the bends, I did expect to have pulled away a lot more than I did on the straight bits!

The black ST was quicker than I expected in the slow stuff too, very even until I got to the top of 2nd/start of 3rd gear.

Gutted I missed this really. Didn't leave Cornwall until noon and made it back to Peterborough for 8:30pm....

Will keep looking for dates for the next one.

Re: Dog Walkers Clarification - I was the first to see the two 60+ year olds stood in the middle of the road as I rounded a bend.

I was doing less than 20mph as I had only just turned off the main road less than 100m before and the road was a true single lane (with a slight run off at the edges for people walking) and I saw them just on the exit of the bend. Here is the google maps image - You can see the cut-aways on the left/right of the bend. They moved over to the right side and stood in the cut-way and the gentleman shook his head.

After passing them I looking in the rear view to see the woman walk out into the middle of the road infront of FF with her arms out wide blocking the road before I lost sight of them.

I think they were annoyed that I didn't slow to 5mph, or even stop, to pass them and stayed at just under 20mph whilst pulled over as far to the left as I could, leaving them around 2m (like most 30mph zones with a pavement) but at no point did anyone drive like an idiot/lunatic/moron etc past them.

At least it gave us something to laugh about at the pub anyway :D

Here are the photos I took. I had to edit them a fair amount to make them look better thanks to the bright sunshine :p
