More updates of leaderboard tomorrow, seeing as my friends list has grown, & seeing as I'm still shaky from my new leaderboard score on Taranis :)
 
right I'm on 6,537,450

not bad for one nights work and only a couple of goes, I'm getting in to this its damn addictive

I'm on 8,943,130 now :)

damn you guys for getting me hooked!!

grrrrrr!!! I don't think I will get a chance to beat your score till 2008!!! If I could just get beyond phase 2 without losing a life, I think the score is beatable.

I still have a fair few hours before New Years Eve festivities commence, so watch this space!!

^ noticed you were on and tried to pre-empt your Taranis score by getting an even bigger one, I reckon I can get to 12million if I didn't keep losing ships :p

edit: still finding it difficult to consistently get 6miilion & above on Lave though ... perhaps a change of strategy is needed :)
 
Got to the boss on the 4th planet and then got distracted by everyone coming in :( New high score is 32 million something

Beat the boss on the previous planet. I think you can unlock in both arcade mode and planet mode (I did it a while ago so someone could please verify the last bit :)).

edit: the bosses are actually quite easy (sorta Ninja Gaiden definition of 'easy' :p) when you get used to them, assuming you manage to stay alive through the sea of asteroids that tends to start each boss section (wait for the boss on the 5th planet - brilliant!!).

I still think I can improve on this by a a good 1 million(wasted all my lives and bombs on final phase)

happy 2008 all :) Taranis is easily one of my favourite planets, I lost one life and numerous shields to get my 12,704,010 score but I reckon 13+million is pretty achievable - gonna try and get in the top 1000 for every planet, top 500 if possible and work on my arcade score.

The final boss bit on Taranis is pretty cool - I'm at the stage where I can beat it most of the time without losing a life (shield or no shield) - ideally, I think it's just a matter of topping up the gold melter as much as possible and boosting through as soon as the boss turns round - can defeat both bosses in 100 seconds usually :)

I'm actually quite enjoying this game more since starting this thread - a bit of competitiveness has boosted up my planet scores more & quicker than I probably would've had otherwise. There's also something to be said about appreciating a game past the initial hype - back in my old Amstrad days one or two games would last me weeks / months whether I liked it or not, and with the huge amount of games available now I'd started to lose appreciation of the work that goes into them and the fun that can be had out of replaying them because it gets too easy to move onto something new (guess I'm getting older and wiser? :p :)).
 
Loving this little gem of a game but it gives me some fierce headaches, all i can say is that rp2000 has eyes of steel!

Oh well.. Now to put ice on my brain and eyes...

Would you believe that I got 8.87 mill last night, but then it looped to the next planet as I had picked Arcade mode instead of Planet mode? (I am sure I can do it again later in the correct mode!!).

Impressive scores for a couple of weeks playing tbh. That is the closest anyone has got for about 6 months!!! I think I need to set a new Arcade mode score (My score does not have a flag next to it as it was set before the update, but my aim is to have a new score set on each of the leaderboards, just to make sure I ain't lost it yet!!)

Oh well, an afternoon of Tekken and Stardust, it would seem.

Lave is the first level right? I usually only manage around 5000 :| Do you try to destroy as much as possible or go for a fast time?

Edit: I meant 5 million, not 5000 LOL :D

It's a combination of the two (Time is a slight factor, as I noticed that I completed the whole planet in 8:06 whereas 2nd place guy is over 10 mins). I am gonna try and post a video of a 8-9 mill score on that level to help out. Although Arcade mode is where I should concentrate, lest you beat me, and then I have to relenquish the New Guy tag I have given you :D

eeps, you go back to work and all sorts of new high scores pop up!! Luckily I got out early due to snow and am now having a quick sandwich after beating it on normal ... I have to go out in 20 minutes for an hour or two though - do I leave it pause with my c. 70million score till I get back? :p

edit: what if it unpauses when I'm out? What if random backround radiation from space manages to mimic a bluetooth signal and unpauses my game? Oh no!!!! :p
