Super Straight - a new sexuality???

Nope, sex is binary, apart from a tiny, tiny, tiny number of people who are medically intersex.

Gender is a social construct that is largely "putting people in boxes". I.e. a boy should play football and build tree houses; a girl should be interested in makeup and Barbie dolls.

This is my understanding too. Sex is binary and assigned by genitalia present at birth or by genetic testing if it is not clear. Sex is binary in all but a very rare proportion of people.

Gender is where things get messy.

As a result, you can pretty much have as many genders as you can care about (or not), but there are only two sexes, really.

I stuck an explanation earlier in the thread that I think sums this up and deals with the "sex is on a spectrum" angle that people try to make due to the existence of intersex - they leverage their presence in order to try and put forth some sort of continuous distribution when in reality it's a rather limited discrete one:

That's called intersex and is often used by woke types to try and make more general arguments about trans people, something intersex people get a bit annoyed by as their situation is a bit different from the vast majority of trans people who are female XXs or male XYs with no DSD issues but simply identify as a different gender identity. It would have been covered in Biology GCSE for anyone paying attention in class.

Sex, as defined by gametes, is binary.

Sex, as defined by some combination of primary and secondary characteristics, is bimodal but on a spectrum with some small number of cases falling in between.

The latter case is sometimes misrepresented and used by TRAs to try and negate sex being relevant at all here, in reality, the bimodal distribution would be discrete, not continuous and contain two large spikes where the vast majority of the population fall into and some very small ones. TRAs will try to distort this by showing something making to two bell curves or similar.

@dowie I was going to write something similar but you worded it better in any case.

I'm still leaning towards some posters contribution here being a kind of performance art.

Firstly, to people who think you don't need to put labels on things, fair enough, but labels are actually a very useful tool for categorisation that make it easy to communicate with other people. Try and buy a dog without naming breeds - "I want one of those friendly looking dogs that usually come in yellow, brown or black" v.s "I'd like a Labrador". Or "I'd like a small yappy dog please....no not that one....not that one....not that one...nope...yeh that one".

I also know that it's very hard to change existing systems from one to another. That's why in the UK we've got a mad mix of Imperial measurements and Metric measurements such as the DIY store being 2.4 miles away but selling 3.2 meter lengths of wood.

People have a classical view of straight as being M to F, so personally I feel we would actually be better off creating a new classification for those who include Trans (or other) within their preferences.

“It’s a ladies penis” always cracks me up.

can’t remember where it’s from but the discussion was regarding if it would be gay to get bummed by a trans women’s penis. To which trans community claimed no as it was a women’s penis.

I remember being sent a screenshot of a facebook conversation of this on Whatsapp and it had me giggling for a week :D

I don't understand the fury of other sexual groups on this SuperStraight identity.

People are discriminated in dating already.

At least when someone makes their preferences known up front then it stops others from wasting their time.

It seems there is a lot of insecurity going as soon as someone realises they aren't accepted by 100% of other people.

No matter what anyone does there will always be that one person who doesn't like you. For no logical reason. That's life.

This is the problem with some of these slogans (see also "defund the police" or "believe all women" - highlighted this in SC earlier but some people don't quite grasp this) lots of people actually do mean them literally - so something like "trans women are women" is taken completely at face value by the more vocal activists leading to internally consistent but utterly bizarre takes like the above. Other well-meaning people who want to be "allies", or simply signal virtue etc.. will go along with such slogans but don't necessarily mean them to be quite so absolute.

Why not. All this 1000 gender ******** started recently so why not super straight.

Just shows how messed up it all is with that screenshot above.

A straight man likes a woman because he can smash, he doesn't want to get smashed by the "woman penis"....

Good. Then they will realise it's all ******** and we can accept it's either straight, gay or bi.

Should always just be either Male, Female, Straight, Gay or Bi. I'm not sure how it can be anything in-between.

What's next? a Leprechaun or a Goldfish?

There are a very very very small number of people who are something in the middle. But like...ridiculously small.

But yeah as to the attraction thing you like dudes, you like girls, you like both, you like neither.

what about people married to a woman and the woman wears snap-on tools?

is that throwing a spanner in the works? is it gay? bi? or something in between

It's not for me personally but I'm lead to believe it's a thing, it can't only be people in a classical relationship to hide their true sexuality.
could be the womans idea I guess and the husband just goes along with it, does that mean shes trans? would it really be different if she had an actual male organ?

Straight is straight. Super straight sounds like a straight guy with OCD.

Tosno likes (slim) girls, Tosno is straight, be like Tosno.

Is that screenshot a genuine conversation. Seems like it has to be satire.

I'm quite a liberal person on most things but it comes to this and I find out I'm rather conservative.

I may be being rather ignorant and I don't mean it in a way to upset anyway but i see straight being that you only want to sleep with real women and not someone who's had a few snips here and there

These are the exact kinds of people that apparently talked rubbish about me for turning down someone based on them having a penis.

Why do you all care so much what these clearly troubled and confused outliers think? They are a tiny majority and have very little power. Most of them are severely mentally ill and thrive off the attention you are all giving them by engaging and trying to debate their utter nonsense.

Again I say, this is a problem none of you transphobes are ever ever going to have. I’m the only one here who has even come close to it being an issue and I laughed it off and nothing came of it.

doesnt seem true with all the wokness these days, a minority making global companies change their branding etc.

seems like the majorities are "asleep" and should wake up indeed.

I'm all for trans rights etc but let's not go bonkers with classifications that make little sense to the majority and only seem to confuse everyone else
