They say its always best shortly after moonrise so 6.30pm is meant to be the best time to photo it. Of course it can be seen all night subject to weather.

I just looked at the supermoon.

It's rubbish. Looks exactly the same size as the moon is normally.

Not impressed.

the moon is always the same size it's just a tin bit closer so appears a tiny bit bigger :confused:

Its a bit closer, but the power irradiated is falling off as 1/r^2 from the sun to the moon and again from the moon to the earth, so the light intensity is almost 15% higher than average.

Well I drove up to Derwent but the low cloud meant I couldn't see the road, let alone the moon. I can now see it at home behind clouds. Grr..

I managed to find a clearish patch at home. Still a slight cover of very fine cloud so no truly clear moments, but the end result was ok. Just wish I'd caught it earlier in the evening.

Appeared to be the same size as normal for me. Oh well, I like looking at the moon anyway.
