Tripple Strength Omega 3? With high levels of EPA/DHA?

Not sure if Cod Liver Oil will have been doing the same thing. FF might know.

Getting lots of fish in your diet already?

Fish oils are better that CLO. However how about trying the following:

Methylsulfonylmethane

Conjugated Linolenic Acid

And my favourite, cissus quandrangularis.

The first 2 are found naturally in foods, but in small amounts, the latter is a rare root but I found it to be wonderful - depending on the dose it's either an anti inflammatory or an anti catabolic - however Methylsulfonylmethane and CLA are probably going to offer more direct and immediate joint protection. CLA is similar in properties to fish oils - but both can be taken together.

As always, read up on it and make up your own mind. :)

Just tried a sample of BSD's WPC in Belgian Chocolate...

It didn't taste very chocolatey to me. Licked dry of the finger it tasted amazing. When added with water it was more of a cream colour and just tasted like dilute milk with a very subtle hint of cake :p

Anybody else tried this? I was going to do a big bulk order but now I'm not too sure. It's easily drinkable but for the extra £1.80 a kilo I'd like to actually be able to taste something.

Just add nesquik. Never tried their WPC - I've tried their isolate belgian chocolate and found it quite sweet and chocolatey, but i haven't got a sweet tooth really so maybe affected more greatly.

I was just shocked to find it tasted more or less like milk. It's not even really that 'brown' a powder. Glad I didn't bulk order 19KG's of it! (for the year :p)

Going to order a few samples from myprotein as they do 10lb bags which actually works out cheaper than BSD and have more flavours. I've tried their strawberry which tasted amazing so will order some samples and make my mind up in the near future.

Whilst looking for something last thing before bed I haven't really found anything better (price wise) than the Phd Pharma Blend which has ' Micellar Casein, Whey Protein, Egg White Protein and Soya Protein Isolate, L-Glutamine & Flaxseed Oil' which I have about 12KG's of under my bed and actually does taste like Belgian chocolate. A steal at £30 per 2.27KG's.

MP's never been the place for whey, but it's one of many places. Familiarise yourself with amio acid profiles, "bang for buck" in terms of bio-availability and protein percentage, and price of course.

I like BSD's 92% stuff, it's a bit dearer, but I'm quite loyal to them (friend works with/for them) and I like to support the underdog! :D

However, I've moved onto hemp protein for the moment - rather nice IMO and offer more than why does, as well as bloating me less and giving me less gas! Though it takes me several months to get through 2.5kg :p

tbh I only want it for a bit of cooking and the odd shake not planning on using at much as I did last time.

And MP ALWAYS use to get recommended this is why I ask if it still does or have the times changed.

I'm personally not a fan of MP and never have been - but if you like it, go for it! :)

Whey is whey, and it shouldn't be more complicated than that, however people market it in such an intensive way, that people forget what it's all about. :) There's the cheap and nasty stuff, the over priced stuff, and the good quality stuff. Good quality is over 90%+ with no sweetners or additives. Personally it's best to go for the non lactose one (i.e. isolate) - however most people won't justify the cost. However if you look at it long term, 2.5kg or whatever amount you buy, is a lot of protein which will last you months.

It's entirely up to you. Try MP's sample packs, see how you get on. Who knows, you might discover some protein powder which is even better?! :)

IF you really want to go mad, pea protein is even more "special" than hemp!

I've just been having a scoop (22g protein) of MP's Milk Protein Isolate before bed. It's gritty as hell (am told this is due to the micellarz!) Meant to be strawberry flavour, but just smells of it and doesnt taste of it at all (tastes of nothing!). So I wouldnt recommend it, and it's kinda put me off MP for a bit! Also tried Dymatize Elite 12-Hour protein, the mix in it looks good, however tasted GHASTLY (bitter, sickening smell)! Another off the list.

Im not that picky either, if its too sweet or whatever I dont mind. But that so far I've had bad experience with stuff like this!

Is that that Pharma 6-hour stuff you have Benny?

Well it's got more protein per gramme than hemp, and is considered one of these new "super foods". However, it is also cheaper than hemp (and maybe even whey?). The thing I like about hemp is the additional nutritional properties, in fact it would probably be just as good to mix pea and hemp protein together for a good mix. I'm just trying to keep away from lactose/bovine based protein - it's just a little bloaty and hard to digest. The others are just as bioavailable, have a good amino acid profile and added nutritional value.

Dammit, I'm turning into a hippy!! :o

Yeah. I did a big bulk order from my chap last time so each unit worked out less. It's lovely stuff, nice and thick with milk and is a double scoop serving before bed though if you only want one it'll last you about 80 days as I think its a 40 serving resealable bag for double scoops.

Belgian chocolate & Banana are the one's I've tried both wtih milk & water and tastes great. There are little bits of ground up flax seeds in there but I don't even notice these in the belgian chocolate, did in the banana slightly. I wouldn't worry about it. Deffinatley give it a go if you're looking for an alternative. Considering how much more it has compared to a milk & whey blend for only £5 I'll be sticking with it. For the record it's nice and smooth not gritty!

As long as it doesn't taste like EAA's :p I don't find the smell bad but the taste is something else. Capping kit saves the day for now, though I will be trying to drink them every third day

Has anyone tried V-Pump its a pre workout supplement? I had a free sample with an order i placed, tried it this morning but im in 2 minds weather it was good or not.. It gave me a huge boost as in i felt awake (at 4am) and it didnt dry my throat out which a red bull or syrupy Lucozade does.. but i noticed on the packet it has 200mg of caffeine! which carnt be good to take 3-4 times a week? (as well as drinking coffee at work etc) Link: http://monstersupplements.com/store/p/3931/1/PHD-Nutrition-V-Max-Pump-:-800g.html - Its pretty expensive too for a 800g tub? Im not looking to build body mass or anything, im training for a physical sport and train very early in the mornings so i thought this would be a good combo of protein and energy for a morning boost..

What i want to know is.. are there other alternatives? I mean, im no expert but is 200mg of caffeine a lot? (2x pro plus is 100mg so guessing its borderline dangerous?)- Would a black coffee have the same effect, at a 10th of the cost? Its the fact is has protein and other nutrients to help replenish whilst training, and the boost from caffeine helps you to carry on through the pain as such.

Thanks in advance.

They are horrid. I add cinnamon to the shake to help, but also if you leave them for 30 mins before drinking they dilute more.

I tried the cinnamon and found it didn't help!

Ocean Spray cranberry concentrate cordial I found worked the best as it's a very similar taste. That and drinking them with an open mouth is a winning combination.:p

Edit: Just noticed MP do Flax Seed Powder. Might have to get me some of that. Could do with some more EFA's in my diet other than olive oil, mayonaisse, milk, eggs, the occasional butter and rarely have cheese.

Also what would you suggest is a good amount of fat (grams) in ones daily diet. Currently on around 2500 calories with about 200 grams of protein, 250 grams of carbs, 50-60 grams fat. A little high on protein but these are rough averages. Also carbs may be higher if I have pasta or rice etc.

Edit: On another side not the partial cut/slim down is going well. 13lbs 7 down from just under 14 stone on 8th January. Not really lost any size and strength is on the up slightly too. Still not looking really lean as I seem to retain fat around my low abdomen and lower back however this is rapidly disappearing. :) 6 more weeks to go with still another 30KG to add to my big three.

Since we're on the topic of creatine, I was just wondering what peoples' opinion is regarding "loading". I'm referring specifically to creatine monohydrate, since I'm going to give it a go for the first time soon and I've read many mixed views, though the general consensus seems to be against it and just take the same dose every day, with a week off every 8 or so.

No need to load really, but it's much more effective when taken with carbs and spread throughout the day, rather in 1 lump sum. 4 small helpings will keep your levels to a decent amount so that it can be of some use to you when you work out.
