Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Im looking to drop a little bit of bodyfat slowly over the next few months by recording my calories and reducing them slightly however having never "cut" before I was wondering what supplements if any I should take to help me out?

Im already taking omega 3 fish oils but have seen people mention BCAA's and L-Glutamine when they are talking about cutting? Im not after a miracle product as I know they dont exist but if anything is worth taking then I will give it a shot.

I've had 3 chicken breasts wrapped in bacon, 100g of sweet potato mash, 2 scoops of whey in 400ml skimmed milk, and 3 boiled eggs tonight. Poor stomach ;(

BCAAs and glutamine won't actually help with cutting, those are taken more for preservation of muscle in a calorie deficit.

Supps that are proven to work in helping fat loss are very thin on the ground, and most of them can't be discussed here.

Green tea extract seems to be reasonably popular, and as you've obviously read omega-3 is regarded as being useful for fat loss.

I've been taking these to help preserve muscle while I was recovering from Operation (amongst other things including high protein). Also Glutamine has helped me recover from DOMS faster.

To give some balance to the Myprotein reviews recently, I ordered after the 2pm cut off yesterday and got my order this morning with nothing missing.

Ok going to order stuff from MP as im running out of true whey, I can get the new years bundle for £50 so I was going to go with that rater than the big deal bundle at the same price but a lot of the products are different like the protein and recovery stuff. I don't know the difference between that and the true whey which I've been using and it seems great :)

If somone could review what I've currently been taking and what I'm about to get that would be great...

Current

Total whey
Dextros
multi vit
omega 3-6-9
creatine monohydrate
Instant oats (There much better than the flakey ones from tescos that mix like crap)

Going to get...

The new year bundle
+
omega 3-6-9
5kg instant oats
+
Liquid chalk and straps for £75

Anything els I should grab? My targets are weight loss while still buliding strength :)

For doing high weights in deadlifting 1RM mainly and will use the chalk on normal sessions, thought I would pick them up as they were cheap :)

145kg is my max as of before christmas but I've been working on it pretty hard so I could so more now. I know I could lift more but my grip is stopping me plus the bars in my gym are pretty woren and smooth so that mixed with sweaty hands during 5 sets makes it harder, ended up with a pretty deep bliser in my hand from yesterdays session :(

Don't bother with the straps, chalk and a mixed grip will be fine. You want your grip to improve.
You shouldn't really be doing 1RM that often anyway, singles only have so much use - mainly to determine working set weights based on 1MR %. If you work on your grip by the time you come round to doing a 1RM you'll be fine.

Yeah I don't do them that often anymore, was just going to get them for the sake of it but its £3.50 saved then =P

Any other things like green tea or whatever I should pick up?
