Supplements the debate/discussion thread

My typical work-day diet is as follows:

Breakfast: big handful of oats with 200ml s/skimmed milk, two slices toast with peanut butter, 200ml glass of water.

10am snack: banana and flapjack/40g of mixed nuts, 0.4-0.6L water.

Lunch: Chilli con carne/curry/chicken breast/some kind of meat chop with rice & veg. 0.4L water

2pm: Wholemeal bap with tuna & sweetcorn filling. 0.4L water.

5.30pm PWO: 1 scoop Ultimate whey served with 200ml semi-skimmed milk. I hate the vanilla flavour, so I'll probably go on the pharma stuff when this is finished.

8pm: Full pack of salmon (usually ~220g)/couple chicken fillets/some kind of meat chop with veg and rice. 500ml water

I am probably under-eating still, but if I plateau at 77-78kg again, I'm going to increase my nuts intake, or add some extra oats in each day.

I tend to have a large meat meal in place of the bap over the weekend.

I'd chuck a scoop of protein in the morning and some sort of fast absorbing carb in your post workout shake (dextrose/maltodextrin).
Imo diet looks decent overall.

Christ, that all kicked off a bit back there!

Anyway, does anyone have any websites to use on mp pricebeater to get cheap whey isolate? Ironscience only brings up a couple of flavours and discount-supplements didn't bring up any.

Cheers

Any flavour in particular you're looking for?

it doesn't work for the decent flavors from what I've seen.
Try bulkpowders. bulksupplementsdirect. oneon

Bad skin? Why would it give you bad skin? Are you intolerant to anything?

In short, I guess there is Pea protein, or Whey isolate (costs more)...There are a few other options that slip my mind currently

Breaking out in spots. I am not into a gym routine just cycling at the moment but still taking whey as part of my breakfast and post ride shake.

What sort of nutrition (values) is in that, Dom? Sounds quite appealing having a meal shake particularly as this Choc MP Hurricane XS is starting to taste really sickly to me. The powder's not terrible to be honest, it's more the random chunks of unmixed creapure/creatine that get the gag reflex going.

Failing that, what would you guys say is the best tasting powder? I'm fine having creatine separately as long as I don't feel like being sick every time I neck a shake!

I've tried Googling and can't find an exact answer but I think Creatine is causing me to break out in spots :\ anyone else get this? Is it even possible?

Trying to work out if it could be anything else but can't quite work it out.

Only thing I've heard is that it can/has cause respiratory issues in some people? I think?

The spots could be a specific ingredient in the creatine itself? Try leaving off it for a few days and see what happens. If you clear up, great, try again.

Yeah that's the plan. I'm not sure what else in my diet could cause it. Will report back.

Won't surprise me if it is related to the Creatine or an ingredient in the MP Creating supp. I can't seem to digest most things that bulkers use to help them put on weight.

Edit -

Increased level of exercise is another reason why you may have more acne. Because creatine allows you to perform for longer when exercising you may naturally increase the amount of testosterone in the body which can defiantly increase your acne.

Defiantly? :|

Possibly due to increased testosterone levels from harder workouts?? are you pushing harder, lifting heavier then before?

I would be suprised if it was a very basic supplement causing this.

Very much so, around 2 weeks ago I realised that I was not putting as much effort into my upper body as I was my legs.

Since then I have been keeping a record of my lifts (never really did so before) and ensuring that I am pushing as hard as poss.

Would that only happen the day or days after working out though?

I didn't work out yesterday but had some spots today - last workout was on Friday.

the body works in mysterious ways, i would be very suprised if you could track your spots to your workouts as accurately as that, like doms as well. Also dont forget that spots are the bodys way of pushing out rubbish so could a number of contributing factors.

I never really suffered badly from spots, but then again i never really stopped getting them so for me its not a thing i can track easily.

Ugh, I best not get major spots again, took nearly ten years to get rid of the last batch of acne :p

I do have a few extra spots currently, but I just tend to try and flush them out, plenty of liquid (which is a given anyway)
