Supplements the debate/discussion thread

In my unsupported opinion, I think it's gained a slight cult following that it doesn't deserve. I used it and found it to be the same as any other good quality protein, and it tasted rank.
For me it's by no means in a league of its own. Just don't buy anything chocked full of sugar.

I said this a while back on the Facebook group and got chastised for it , MP is just not all that and yes it tastes like utter turd.
Luckily this board may have clocked on to it finally, but it took a long time for the fake hype train to settle.

My recent order from Bulkpowders btw , was pretty spot on and would consider ordering with them again.

One thing I've noticed is that anything apart from Whey Protein Concentrate is expensive.
Milk, Whey Isolate, Pea, Soy - all very expensive.
Is there any particular reason why you want Hemp protein?

Errrr... BulkPowders and MyProtein would suggest otherwise? In other words: soy and pea protein both come in cheaper per kg. Yes, both taste like ****, but... :)

I dont know what your referring to that tastes like turd, MP for me has some of the nicest tasting products at a fraction of the cost of some of the big brands. Yes there prices have risen in the last 2 years but its still the best bang for buck and there service is excellent.

Most of my supplement orders are from MyProtein.
When you consider their 10% discount codes which are regularly emailed to me, they are without doubt the cheapest for unflavoured whey.
Mixing unflavoured whey with liquid flavouring (toffee) - I think this is the best tasting shake I've had.

In terms of taste and price, they are the best.

And just for the record, I have no loyalty to any company - I will go where I can get the cheapest price for an identical product. It just so happens that MP is the cheapest for me.

The Protein Works - now they are expensive - though I dont think they are aiming for the value market. I think that their target customer is those who normally buy Maximuscle.

I still use MP for bulk creatine and unflavoured whey as for things like the 5kg bags they tend to work out cheapest still. Get fish oil caps from whoever is doing a good deal on bulk high strength ones. I get my Vitamin D3 off Amazon... that's about it for me.

I had a look at the link for oneon but that's out of stock so is My Protein best for Cheap MacCheap of the clan MacCheap?

Also, if anyone has an opinion, as I'm quite busy at failing to get my own company off the ground, if I were going to workout say, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, would it be best to increase my protein intake the same day or the night before.. any thoughts?

Check out MyProtein, GoNutrition, Bulkpowders.
I believe that these are your cheapest providers.
After discounts, calculate which is the cheapest, especially if buying unflavoured.

With regards to protein dosage - dont make this complicated. Just eat well (and sleep well, if possible - difficult when launching a company) and have 1-2 protein shakes/day to supplement your protein intake and you are golden.

Keep it simple and don't over-think it.

BTW did anybody what BBC Horizon's Fat vs Sugar program?

Keep macros consistent each day, it makes life easier. If bulking 0.8-1g per lb of LBM, if cutting 1.2-1.5g although it's debatable if you really need that much. Most satiating macro though so more of it can be useful when dieting.

Thanks, I'll check out the other two also.

I didn't but did you see the program where the guy undertook various fasting regimes a few months back and they monitored his bloodwork? I was quite intrigued by the alternate day fasting results and is one reason I'm not keen on taking protein if I'm not doing anything, has this been debunked?

Thanks for the input, though being new to this, I have to admit I'm not able to fully translate it. :)

Skimmed a few posts here but if you are curious about fasting checkout leangains.com

Martin Berkhan is the 'godfather' of fasting to me.

I'm not likely to engage in fasting, I was just curious because of the results, but I see for alternate day, which seems the most agreeable form, the studies in humans are only short term so far. At least if I come back as a mouse I'll have a better idea how to manage my diet. :D But I'll check out the site, thanks.

Thanks, that sort of reading should be very informative, I found the example image hilarious. :D

Well there's an offer on my link. I figure from experience the most important supplement criteria for 95% of gym tarts these days is taste.... MP have a nice yummy berry flavour if you're in the mjority lol ;) :D

If not then treat yourself to some Creapure.

Hello all, just thought I would drop a few lines on some of the best whey protein I have tasted over the past year. I have tasted most of the top name brands out there and here is what I think are 3 of the best.

Gaspari Myofusion - Banana/Strawberry/Cinnamon: This is by far the best whey I have tasted personally I prefer the banana but the other 2 are very close.

Trutein - Cinnabun - Amazing taste and great texture/mix not had this one with milk before.

FitnessGuru - Onewhey - Vanilla/white choc, Raspb/White choc,

the above is rated taken with water and I have not noticed a difference in results between the three although the Trutein contains the best ingredients.
