Survive The Forest

How are people finding this running? Game seems to auto set graphics back to max which is fun at 1440p.

Turned lots of stuff down / low, seems much better now.

Anyone made it out of the cave? keep falling through the floor and dying trying to get out :p

I got out of the cave and ended up on a shoreline, the lighting effect in the cave from the flares is sublime, really spooky.

At night time i tried just hugging the coast with the water on my back, would see tribesmen walking along the edge of the forest and start to get closer and closer to me, seems they will find you regardless of where you are.

They did talk about a mode similar to minecrafts creative mode which has no enemies and lets you craft.

I so want this game but I am the biggest pussy on earth. When I played Amnesia as soon as I heard a scary noise i'd hit escape. It took a year of owning it before I found a friend who would play through it for me ;).

The Forest has a peaceful mode though.. So i'm glad of that. I will wait to hear confirmation of the saving being fixed before a purchase though :)

The mouse acceleration is making me feel a bit nauseous, also turned motion blur down to lowest. It's using my 290 100% and giving butter smooth frame rate at max graphics.

Im running it at full graphics and it feels smooth.

The game has so much potential and I'm more looking forward to the mode without the invincible enemies. I really really hope it keeps getting updated and isn't forgotten.

The enemies are well executed tho, you do not want to run into them unlike the zombies in dayz where it feels like you're running from or fighting a glitch.

Beautiful game, great fun & spooky! Some things are a little hit and miss, like cooking, swimming & escaping the enemy, but for an alpha it's great! Max settings & it's smooth.

Some shots from the game:

They also trapped my girlfriend on the boat, quite amusing! :p

That happened to me on the yacht yesterday too, had to wait out the night seeing lots of them surrounding me (was pretty freaky)! Finally managed to make a break for it at dawn and get back to my shelter :D

The graphics truly are amazing for a v0.01 build, the night-time sky looks great and the sand on the beach is good quality :)

Looking forward to more updates for this, can see myself sinking many an hour into it.

last playthrough i tried building defensive walls around the plane wreck, built up 3/4 of a circle of walls put some fire stakes around the perimiter, they seem to burn for a lot longer than a normal fire and are perfect for lighting up a camp.

come nighttime tho i just get swamped by tribesmen, i was hoping the fire would keep them away but no joy.

Also doh to me just realised i can open the suitcases with the axe lol, its such a cool game, the crafting/building looks great already just not enough hours in the day :p

So today I made some friends.

Well, the beach is a good place, or try building near the plane crash and don't venture too far.

I tried both of these, they always seem to be around the plane or patrolling the area & the various beaches are another patrol zone, first game I played was the best as we found 2 of them, killed them off and was free of enemies for a few days, was an open area just north of the beach close to their small inland camp.

Cheers guys, it doesn't help that I'm such a wimp with games like this lol, hopefully the next update will contain a save game and that peaceful mode so at least then I can get to grips with the building systems.
