Survive The Forest

My advice is to get away from the plane crash asap and don't build your shelters there - the tribe people tend to swarm it and if you're not quick enough then there will be too many of them. Head to the beach where lots of suitcases have ended up and scavenge them, then build your camp fairly near to the beach but not too far from trees and plants.

I survived 3 days apparently, just went wandering around. Found the nose of the plane but nothing of use there.

Molotovs are very good at killing them, just chuck one at the ground as they run towards you, can often get 2 or 3 with one of them :)

Had a quick go before work. Looks really good so far. Not being able to save is a bit if a pain but not to worry. Only managed to survive a day before getting murdered. As soon as I build a camp near the beach I'm swarmed. I ran out to sea and could see them searching the sea bed haha but they couldn't reach me. Seems to be hundreds of the mutants out searching for me all the time. Maybe it's the lynx effect, the boobs on the female mutants are pretty decent for mutant, I would :)

When will that be available? Need to practice without the constant threat of being gang raped by tribes people

I'm sure I read you can play peaceful in the current version.

Will there be a peaceful mode?

Yes. You will be able to play the game as a more traditional survival/exploration simulator, with the horror elements effectively disabled.

From searching the Steam forums it seems the peaceful mode isn't in the game yet. :(

Ah things were going so well, i met my end.

First prolonged attempt got me a hunting camp, a couple of fires and a few traps. Managed to kill 4 cannibals at the start and they didn't bother me since (Although for somehow, there were 7 bodies around the camp :confused:) . Lasted about 8 days and decided to make some effiges, so i started chopping up the bodies, but when i chopped one up, the physics derped and i flew 500 metres though the forest and died. Oh well :p

How do you re-deploy the traps that you have made? They keep being triggered by rabbits.

I did quite well earlier, survived for about a week and a half. Built myself up a nice camp with a log cabin, plenty of fires and a few other shelters - it was quite disconcerting though when the tribes people started building effigies all around my camp site, the fire worked well though, they don't come anywhere near the standing fires and fire pits :D

Looking forward to when saves are implemented and further updates, really enjoying this game so far - should be amazing with more updates :)

Kinda feel like the game is more Luberjack simulator at the moment.

82 logs to make a log cabin is a bit nuts, constantly back and forth just getting wood.
Also, oddly in my last play through after the first day the mutants didnt bother me.

They were chasing me about before, i manged to kill a few and hide. Afterwards build effigies around my 'base' to see if it helped and I never saw a single mutant again.
Actually got bored and started again because of that, a bug perhaps.

Dammit i went 10 days, almost built my cabin, had effigies round my base along with torches (hadnt seen a mutant since day 2) and then i press 'i' and the game exits to windows :(, wish they would fix the save function.

The flying through the air thing just happened to me too!

Played this for a couple of hours today. Decided to build the hunting shelter so the entrance of it faced the open part of the plane, then put two defensive walls up either side to make it a properly enclosed area which you could only access by crawling in through a hole in the side of the plane or by jumping over the shelter which I later stopped being possible for enemies by putting a trap behind the shelter.

Put some standing torches up around the outside which the enemies then somehow managed to run directly in to and set themselves on fire which meant I had four dead enemies to chop up without them coming anywhere near me. Built an effigy out of the body parts, and got half way through building a (floating) log cabin before the fires I'd built to cook food would no longer allow me to place food on them. By this time it had been two days since I'd last seen any enemy so I guess I scared them off on first sight.

With the random inability to cook food and the lack of anyone to try and fight I decided to call it quits for now. I am enjoying the game despite the bugs though.

Just had a quick play of this. Built the hunters shelter and had to sleep about 10 times to get back to daylight. Built a fire and cooked a rabbit. Then the mutants turned up and killed me. Escaped the cave after finding and killing one and made it back to my shelter. Proceeding to start building the bigger shelter, and just as I was thinking oh good haven't seen the mutants for a while I see them running through the forest in the distance, didn't come near me though.

At that point got bored running backwards and forwards with logs, and knowing it wouldn't save I left it at that. Odd bug though, my bigger shelter was being built above the ground so I would've needed a ladder to get into it.

The shelters do that, once you've built it - it drops to ground level, think its to ease building it, walking in to the construction from different directions etc.

This game is SO satisfying to play, ignoring bugs etc of course.

My only complaints so far are that the controls are a bit unintuitive/clunky and the constant "strobing" effect for collectable items can get rather annoying.
