Suzi perry to replace Jake on BBC F1

Can't believe how many people liked Simon on Sky F1. I thought he was horiffic. He's just a presenter with no intrest in F1. There were a few moments when he was out of his depth talking to people, and it showed. He'd go bright faced and mumble his words.

Sky need a re-think on their lead presenter. With regards to the BC, I didn't watch their coverage at all. Once Sky was installed I just had the F1 show, FP1,2,3 Qualifying and Grand Prix on series record and stayed with it.

I think she's a good choice. Lee McKenzie would have been good, but I think the BBC prefer her as the interview girl as opposed to as opposed to anchor woman presenter. Just YouTube "Suzi Perry MotoGP" to see some of her old MotoGP shows and you'll find she's not too bad.

Whatever happens she is a hell of a lot better than Simon "Fake Jake" Lazenby who is the dreariest person I have ever seen presenting Formula 1. (Yes, even worse than Ryder and Rosenthal!)

Also, I don't understand why everyone complains about Jake, DC and EJ walking around the paddock having a laugh. Personally, I thought that's what made the BBC's F1 coverage so great and frankly put IMO, miles better than Sky's coverage. It's just a real damn shame that we won't get the Monaco GP live on the BBC this year. Utterly terrible! :(

I would give him at least another season.

I'll miss Jake. Slick links, excellent presenter. He was the face of F1 for me. :(

Still, I wrote something just now to the effect of 'the comedy will die and it'll become dull like the sky team', but having just taken a moment to watch some suzi perry clips, she seems pretty good and has humour. So maybe a good 3 way banter will continue and it'll still be entertaining, aside from the actual racing.

Disappointing, the whole flirty stuff does my head in and she makes too many mistakes. Having said that, she worked on the bikes and Jake was superb so a hard thing to follow.

I agree Housey, Those blatant Vogue poses at the end of every sentence do my head in, the flirting is out of place & she still hasn't got a feel for how it should be.

I've tried to give her a chance but just can't really get on with her.

Silly questions to the point she gets perplexed glances back, mistakes when presenting, and I just can't get on with her demeanour.

The thing is, as Housey said - Jake was very good at keeping on top of it all, adlibbing on the go, and with the banter with the other presenters. She always was always going to be up against it with such big shoes to fill.

The feature BBC made, showed exactly how BBC broadcast the F1, how hectic it is, how much is going on simultaneously and how much earpiece chatter there is for the presenters and essentially Jake was so good at stitching it all together.

Another factor I've discussed with mates is that when tune in to F1, we all expect to watch racing and the coverage surrounding it. In the rare event that a lady is present in the programming, we'd like it to be for her merits as a functional part of the sport, whether it's as a driver, engineer, team manager, presenter or whatever. Not because the broadcaster is trying to hook us in with sex appeal.

Hope that doesn't come across as being sexist, because it really isn't - in fact, its rather the opposite.

As if proof was needed, just shows how good a job Jake did , but to be fair its nigh impossible for her to start with (especially with so few live shows as well, like a young footy star who doesn't get to start too often - you know they would get better with some consistant games).

I hate the flirty stuff (especially seeing Claire Williams and the CEO of Sauber both showing how females in F1 can work and do well for the right reasons), does rankle how Suzie does it, but hopefully that's just nerves and she will grow out of it.

Personally with Martin and Jake leaving in such quick succession, the BBC team has lost a huge amount of what I liked about it as a production - Ben Edwards is ok, but nothing more than that. I know he is trying hard but when Martin made a "mistake" , viewers knew it was just that - I just don't have the faith in BE that takes to do the same in Ben's favour (maybe harsh I admit)

I liked her when she did MotoGP, but have been less impressed so far with her F1 presenting. I think she just needs more time tbh and as said above if she was doing live races each week it would probably help her and the fact she had big boots to fill doesn't help. Jake did a great job but he too took time to get the role right.

Hi, Jake did a good job, however it also took him a bit of time to settle as well and I remember everyone complained about using him when he had little, or no, motorsport knowledge because his background was football.
