Suzi perry to replace Jake on BBC F1

Give her time. The BBC are way better than the sky lot.

Used to be. Not any more I'm afraid. The BBC coverage is **** poor from what I've seen of it this season (admittedly not much), but this is the impression I get from the bits I've seen plus other viewer's comments...

Suzi "I wish I was still on the MotoGP and Gadget Show" Perry.

David "I wish I'd followed Martin to Sky" Coulthard.

EJ who seems to turn up whenever he wants now, and nobodies bothered anyway.

Overly-excitable Ben Edwards.

So much negativity for SP.

Personally, I like her. Not quite as polished as JH was, but she does a good job. I think people here are being overly critical of her. Too many comments about her looks etc. Who cares what she looks like. She's a decent presenter imo doing a decent job. I'm sure she'll grow into the role more as time passes.

Sky's pre race isn't brilliant. I think they have given themselves to much time to fill so end up padding. They added 30 minutes onto the time the BBC had to cover adverts, but then removed the adverts.

Anderson's been far, far better than I was expecting. It took him a little while to settle into the role, but I really enjoy listening to him now - while Ted's far more appealing to an audience (attitude and demeanor), Gary's so much more insightful. You always get the impression Ted's a pitlane reporter-come-technical analyst, while Gary's the opposite. Ted's better with the camera and generally summing up a race, but Gary's got such an eye for the detail. They'd make a fantastic pitlane combination.

Susie's rubbish. While I don't think she's a natural presenter, I still wish Lee Mckenzie was given that role. She's not one to interrupt a conversation to get an interview, but she always seemed to have a great rapport with the drivers and I thought she'd earned the job with how well she coped with the Japanese qualifying being abandoned in 2010—a presenter's nightmare.

I do like Ben Edwards though, and have since his days commenting on Indycar in the 90s. He's easily excitable, but I'd much sooner take that over Jonathon "up the hill, around the bend" Legard or James Allen's ITV days, with his fake excitability.

Speaking of Allen, he's been excellent on 5 Live. It's a pleasure listening to him now he seems to be the one setting the tone, rather than the producer in his ear as it seemed with ITV.

^^ Very true about James Allen, he's been great this year (and last with Alguersuari) as on he own, without the now typical itv leaning on him (like their football coverage suffers from), he can actually come across as the intelligent and enthusiastic presenter he is.

THERE WILL BE NO KNOCKING OF GARY!!!:p

He's the only bit of the BBC I can stand at the moment, he's come on leaps and bounds since he did the 5 live friday coverage with crofty during fp1/2 when FI let him out (was really interesting then as well but hadn't tuned his accent for radio/tv)

My two pen'eth

Suzi Perry: She's doing okay, she made some errors but nothing major, shes is a good general motorsport presenter just not F1 specifically and she does not have the youthful enthusiasm that Jake had. Jake made you feel like he was one of us who had lucked out and got to see everything behind the curtain.

Eddie Jordan: Used to annoy me with his antics and tabloid opinions and exaggeration. Seems to have calmed down this season and been more objective which is much better for me.

David Coulthard: Sometimes he annoys the hell out of me with his abbreviations (KL ), sayings ("Unloads the rear of the car"). I also notice he spends a little to much time kissing red bulls rear diffuser. When hes not doing these three things he's a very good clear and informed presenter.

Gary Anderson: Although he obviously knows his technical stuff I think people put too much faith in his knowledge. I remember him saying that the McLaren looked quick and the Mercedes looked slow at the unveiling of the cars :p and he got that wrong. He's knowledgable and personable but he needs to lay off the pints that gut needs some DRS :D

Lee Mckenzie: There is a lot of love for Lee that I wasnt aware of to be honest. I think she does her job well but as others have said does not have the public profile that Suzi has. I also think she has upset people in the paddock (e.g. Lewis Hamilton) and this might be why Suzi got the nod.

Ben Edwards: I think he's a good commentator, gets over excited at times but is a million times than Johnathan who couldnt tell when a Caterham lost its rear or front wing (sorry can't remember his last name).

I would love to see Charlie Cox have a go at F1 as it would be hilarious. Vettel Qualifying P1 "Vettel giving it plenty of mumbo up the back straight" Grojean crash = "Thats shot the fox"

dear lord just turned bbc on to see how bad perry was and its like a replay of otis when he was let loose on the paralympics. utter twaddle with a smattering of err's and ahh's she just doesn't sound comfortable delivering the information to me.
