Suzuka Circuit -JAPANESE Grand Prix 2009 - Race 15/17

Exactly, the advantage he has in the position he is in, is that he has the time to learn, and a team who are willing to help teach him about developing a car. This seasons slump and subsequant rise will be worth more to him in the future years than winning a championship in a dominant car ever will :)

Yeah. I think it took Hamilton, especially in the "post-Australia depression", a few months to realise this. But he clearly does now as it comes across in the things that he says.

Hamilton *had* to drive a bad car at some point. In fact, this was one of the main things that certain quarters were holding against Hamilton.

Onwards and upwards from here on. Hope McLaren open up the cheque book for their 2010 car :D

Had he gone to a back of the grid team, first, then moved to better teams later in his career, he would've done much better
average drivers in crap teams dont seem to stay in formula one long enough for them to ever proove themselfs these days.

everyone is constantly looking for the next "miracle" driver

Obviously now they've turned it around and it is a race winning car. But hey... I guess nobody can ever say "Hamilton isn't a good car developer" any more ;)

Lol, not only that he must be so good and car re-design he did it without testing milage as well. A true Messiah. :D The best ever, Ferrari could only do it running 24/7 round a test track. Lou Lou has done it without all that running ;)

Or maybe this just proves how easy F1 is these days........leaves thread after putting the cat amogst the pigeons :D

I dunno, McLaren have seemed pretty content to put Kovy in one of their cars for the last two years.

HK is surely better than majority of drivers ever at FI, and even some at TR / Renault / Willaims /Toyota

Dont get me wrong of the "leading drivers" he is near the back, but there are still a lot of drivers from last couple of years that he is markedly better than imo

in fact 15-24 in the current standings are all at best equal and probably far worse than HK (he is doing badly in a very decent car without a doubt, but he is arguably better than all that lot also - and possibly better on average than Trulli , who is probably the most frustrating driver ever imo)

Looking at everyone who has driven this year, adding all points scored and dividing by number of drivers, the average points score for a driver is ~23 points. HK has 22. Would this not make him....

*drumroll*

....average? :)

Christ, Massa has missed six races so far and still has as many points as Kovy! Also, looking at the table it seems that the only man so far to drive in every race of the season and not score at least once is Nakajima. Perhaps he's trying to tie with Badoer for F1 Rejects' "Reject Of The Year" award?

I dunno if the mean is appropriate in this situation.

I would say the being above the median would be more of an indication.

You're probably right. Statistics was never my strong point with maths.

So, I'll go back to my other point:

Christ, Massa has missed six races so far and still has as many points as Kovy!

I'll be mightily amused if Kovy doesn't score again in the remaining two races.

I would say its pretty likely you will be amused then

Abu Dhabi is a complete unknown so while everyone has an equal chance of having a great day I just cant see past, we can probably all write down now the likely point scorers in both races (maybe not where they will finish but that they will finish in the points)

I guess the only front runner who might be a little bit of guesswork is Vettel only because of the engine situation (shouldnt be that stressed in Brazil because of the altitude but AD may be a different kettle of fish)

I would put a £5 on Kovi not finishing above Massa in the points table right now ( I suppose they could be equal on points but for some bizare twist of fate count back gives Kovi the higher "place" - so one or more points higher than Massa is what I mean ;))

Glock wont be racing in Brazil thanks to a cracked vertebra.

Bit strange that it has taken this long to be discovered I would have thought (force of the shunt should have meant they did complete tests there and then I would have thought) - also given that its cracked Im surprised they even expect him to be available for Abu Dhabi two weeks later (ie "situation is not clear" seems to think he could make it back, yet you would kind of think that with no danger below or hope of catching the above constructors there is no pressure on him getting points in either race, he should just rest)
