You can connect to servers now and wonder about in a mobless resourceless npcless world but it's still galaxies all the same. It's legality is questionable and my post will probably be deleted though :\
Actualy rumour has it Lucas Arts are going to buy the company then license SWG to them, I doudt that is true however what is true is now they have added NPC's :D And trust me if Chimaera are anything to go by we wont let it get shut down!

Just like the rumour of LucasArts taking full control of the license that used to come out every publish, it's not going to happen. The Star Wars Galaxies community is a better rumour mill than The Inquirer at times.

Reading the above posts brought back some fond memories for me, hunting party on dant with a good group or guild was one of the best things ever. Was such a good game and now such a massive disappointment and waste of a good license. :(

/Shout Looking for 'Naff group!

:( :(

:edit: Oh my, the music to that video is beyond good.

lol i loved this game.. far too much in fact.. best memories ?

Well i was on europe infinity, i am guessing as the guy above knew exe he was on the same server

Defending my guilds base complex on naboo against a rival imp guild near us, some great fun there, and then attacking a imp guild on tatooine in mos pearl i think it was called.

Black sun / nightsister hunting / village missions on dathomir, from what i understand there is pretty much nothing to do on that planet now.

randomly hanging about in coronet and all the randomness that occured there, especially when jedi really had to hide to stay alive

Starting and running a guild which i believe is still going on europe infinity

crafting weapons after spending ages and ages sourceing the best resources and taking them to a friend to make.

Oh i could go on and on, and just as the cu hit which really was the turning point of the game, actully to be more precise the gcw upgrade was the turning point of commen sense and care bear attitude in the game, i was sad to see it change, tried the cu for a bit but it never was never the same, mainly because it was just a buggy dumbed down version of pre-cu.
i also quickly became bored as i had a jedi pre cu so had awsome pearls and a anti decay kit so was pretty much untouchable by bh's.

Then tried the nge but could not stand it, i dont know who decided to turn a mporpg into a fps / something, so got my money back for toow and sold my account.

SOE do listen to customers...just the wrong ignorant kind, or WoW players...thus the nge, and jedi being a starting prof etc

The thing I always see missing from blaming SOE is LA never take any flak for it. SOE have been running mmorpgs for years. I never see any complaints in EQ2 about SOE never listening. Personally I would be more inclined to put the blame on LA. Seeing Blizzards success and trying to coin it in.

The NGE was pushed upon SOE by LA, correct. I don't think the CU was though. I think the CU actually ended up being a fine game in its own towards the end.

aye nge was pushed on SOE and SOE werent allowed any say in the matter, they just had to sit there, do it, release it by a deadline...which was probably advanced when someone leaked it due to there not being an NDA at the conference it was shown at. As a result it was not only poor, but bugged to hell. basically it was a bad idea that was was managed even worse, and also pushy LA and stuborn SOE wont ever admit the mistake the nge was.

(I remain by my opinion that, whilst the CU wasnt a patch on pre-cu, it was in its own right still a very competant game)

Why did it ? the levels ruined the games individuality and skill, if you wernt high enough level you died most if not all of the time, before the cu it was about skill, having the right armor, template, weapons and time, thats without even going into some of the ridiculous stuff like the xp if something was like 2 levels below you, what was that all about ?

You clearly don't understand the level system in the game. The levels didn't change anything, it was just an easier marking of who was tough and who wasn't. The trees were the same and gave the same stat boosts, the levels were just there for aesthetics.

Your comment about "Skill" being used is absolute trash. Before the CU it was more about your profession, after the CU it was more balanced so was about skill instead of whether you could use such and such a rifle which was stupidly good.

Hehe yea i enjoyed the CU aswell hated it at first like all changes but by the end damn i was a strong melee player, and preCU i was a pwnaging rifleman :p did anyone else play on shadowfire?

lol i think i do seen as i played it for 6 months, and yes a common argument to my comment is exactly what your saying but weather or not there were levels before the cu they certinatly wernt apparent or as restrictive as they were post, for instance my cm/rm who wasnt a master in either, managed to kill a nightsister elder pre cu, and were not taking a legendary t21, this was just your run of the mill krayted t21, this was the sort of freedom you had pre cu, the game was much more skill based, post he came out at level 40 odd, which wasnt even capable of touching a elder, and what about the ridiculous damage multipliers that higher level creatures could do to lower level characters, you cant tell me that was there before the cu ?
