It's getting better and people are coming back, most of them are staying too. Your loss if you choose not try it for free I guess.
People kept saying this when the CU went live, and when the NGE went live too. I have tried coming back numerous times only to find the game empty and broken beyond repair.

I'm sorry but I and many other veterans have completely lost all hope and, I am not calling you a liar, but we don't believe a word that comes out of the developers anymore, or the community when they say "it's getting better, people are coming back."

It's an old chestnut we've heard enough of.

I understand completely, people have got to WANT to come back. A lot of people justifiably felt betrayed by the developers when the game was turned upside down and can't forgive them for that no matter what has happened since.

But, it IS better now than it was with the raw unfinished state of the NGE. Not as good as it was once but it is getting better. People ARE coming back but slowly. The game will never be what is was back then but I still find things to do.

i played for a month at the end of july, and im sorry, its still pants.

All the effort that i put in originally was for nothing, master creature tamer with top notch wookie armour - gone. And its still full of bugs, i went to the wookie home world, somehow i managed to get behind one of the large gates there and couldnt get back, it took over 3 days of constantly trying before i could get a GM to come and move me.

The skill tree is useless now, before it was amazing, you could meet 1000 people and not one would have the exact same skills as yourself. Now its very limited.

My younger bro has just tried the free trial and liked it, but he hasnt got the original builds to compare it to. I think that for the majority of hardcore SWG fans, they can never go back.

exactly, SWG was SO original pre-crap mods, I mean you could do what you wanted within your talent points I loved that system, and there was just SO much detail, im sure if any of you tried armorsmith you would agree with me in saying nothing can touch the detail and originality SWG had within those profs.

also it took me about 5 hours to find out what buttons to use when I tried it.. and my whole friends list were offline, not to mention theed/coronet empty  :(

/cry

one of the things that really got me was that i started a jedi character (i wanted to be like everyone else :p) just for a week, i managed to level up too fast, got quite high, but even at low levels i was taking on and killing creatures i know would have needed a group or a top notch characters in the original.

I tried the other professions but its just too linear now.

Armoursmith was awesome, i was that with weaponsmith on my alt, good money making days, but really time consuming

That pretty much sums up my feelings on SOE's recent attempt to make the SWG experience a good one. Idiots...

There is a free 21-day reactivation trial, which means u can log into ** old account and characters for free before the new year. I went in game and asked how do u get from lv 80 to 90, and heard that mustafar was required still. I hooked up with a noob which was a mistake cause I didnt get to even test if kashikk was viable for lvling.

I still think its retarded that to attack something u have to hold ** cursor over it while pressing attacks. At least now u have the option to attack from the number keys rather than selecting the attack from the number keys and then pressing the right mouse button. It was all in the name of killing AFK macros. Ive noticed a "set target" key in the options which might be what Im looking for. Even City of Villains has TAB bound to cycle target outward. Having an easy to use interface is quite critical in a game such as this (or any game for that matter). :o

To answer the question from the above post, I like City of Villains. It has the feel of what a melee toon pre cu had, its got PvP too. However there is no ingame economy and a lack of things to do once ** lvl'ed to 50, except to start over. Having said that, neither does SWG have a viable economy, when they made weapons not decay, and looted weapons better than crafted; it killed it at least for my weaponsmith. Admittedly I only have "half" the game, not having bought CoH yet, which apparently is a bigger game itself.
