Would you support a military strike on Syria without a UN Security Council resolution?

More news - Ed Miliband, a politician, is accused of playing politics by government.

The letter also invited key British politicians in with experts to check. Like they will - lol.

You can't dismiss the credibility of a video just because it is posted on YouTube.

If the 'fake news' being searched for is from YouTube alone, and reported by no one other news company, I would hazard a guess that is it not credible.

Hold on the US gov said the one video is true it's just shows how silly the US gov are by not checking the facts.
The US have been caught out again and it's nothing new.

No, but the first post I quoted was in a conspiracy theorist style, which I why I said to not simply believe YouTube.

"A lot of the news about Syria is lies, staged or completely faked." What about that is conspiracy like to you when it is in fact a fact? He even put in the effort to provide links to how he came to this judgment, even ones from international news agencies. instead of challenging him on a factual basis backed up with sources of your own you simply attempted to dismiss anything posted because it's on YouTube. Can you not see how silly that is?

I do not understand what you are trying to say, my point is that YouTube is not credible, unless you have additional sources.

That may have been the same day, and the second video was released later. Please provide further information from a different source. Again, I will not simply believe a single video.

Surely you can't be that naïve? You would rather believe that the man just changed his clothes, grew a beard, shaved his hair and found 3 different children to mourn over in the same day? like I said cover your eyes and stuff your ears....

Are you saying that everything is being acted? I really don't know.

No i'm not, and neither did the poster you responded to.

When attempting to determine the truth value of any given claim (when you know for a fact all are motivated to lie) you should examine the motives of the behaviour & who potentially can gain from the action.

This usually leads to the truth.

I don't trust any news media outfit, the Russian media will lie, our media will lie - the Syrian government will lie, the terrorists will lie (I refuse to call them rebels when in any other nation they would be called terrorists).

Regarding the chemical attack, only one faction has the potential to gain from it, in this case the terrorists by bringing the west into the war on the side of them.

I believe this is the most likely scenario & I have no faith any real evidence will ever materialise to prove what really happened.

The news is nothing more than propaganda for anything to do with foreign policy, Chomsky has studied it extensively & given countless proven examples of this kind of media twist & operation.

One key example which I always remember is the staged toppling of the Saddam statue, made out it was the actions of the locals who "loved us for bringing them freedom" .... about that....

Video showing what apparently is rebels firing a chemical weapons mortar. Whoever they are there not in government uniform.

Everyones entitled to an opinion, no matter how divorced from reality.

this is like the worst conspiracy ever then, what with them actually videoing themselves doing it and releasing it during the investigation whilst the west dithers and the UN blathers. Oh and the video is over a year old.

*lol its a veterans today article -
The Anti-Defamation League ("ADL") and the Southern Poverty Law Center have criticized it for promoting bigoted and extremist viewpoints.According to the ADL, VT's articles are reposted widely on the Internet, primarily on conspiracy-oriented and right-wing extremist websites.

so yup! lol had to post this -

Veterans Today has promulgated the conspiracy theory that Israel orchestrated WikiLeaks as a public relations campaign. Gordon Duff has charged Julian Assange with cooperating with Israeli intelligence, and in an interview with the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, he said that "WikiLeaks is obviously concocted by an intelligence agency. It's a ham-handed action by Israel to do its public relations."

lol brilliant, love a little light humour in the morning.

You are supposing that all the players are rational actors, which is grossly naive. To paraphrase a line from Batman: Some men just want to see the world burn. Not everyone has a clear and logical motive, or at least not one we might consider to be clear and logical.

Allegedly, the evidence the West has, indicates that Assads brother is responsible for the attacks, without the knowledge of the government. Given that he is meant to have been disfigured (losing part of a leg and hand) during a bomb explosion that killed the defence minister etc earlier this year, is it so hard to imagine he is acting irrationally?

so what about the evidence of turkey recovering 2kg of sarin gas from al nusra? and the fact we keep being told only assad has chemical weapons FACEPALM.JPG

who's more likely to use chemical weapons? terrorist group or government that hadn't used chemical weapons even when it was losing?

it just happens america said that chemical weapons were the line and then they get used seems like awfully good timing.

if it were the government it would likely be defectors or rebel spies.

you do realise a lot of the FSA are ex syrian army right?

Just goes to show how much some people believe everything they read on the internets 'coz it must be true its on the internets'. try looking at some of the 'they found 2 kilos of sarin!' websites - russiatoday, SANA - Lets try Reuters shall we -

The police raids were carried out in Turkey's largest city Istanbul as well as in the southern provinces of Mersin, Adana and Hatay near the Syrian border, said Adana governor Huseyin Avni Cos.

Cos (provincial governor) said unknown chemical materials were found during the raids and sent away for investigation. He denied media reports that a small amount of the nerve agent sarin had been uncovered.

Six of those arrested were later released, Cos said, while the other six were being kept for further questioning. He did not say which organization had been targeted in the raids.

Wheres that facepalm jpg again?

So from what the news says, certain members of our government want to send in a few missiles to Syria just to scare them a bit. Other members of our government, and other MPs, are twitchy about us getting involved in another middle eastern war after Labour's great success with illegal wars and would rather than we wait until the UN says so.
The US can't decide whether to send in a few missiles now, or wait for the UN.
China and Russia are both saying "don't do anything without the UN say so or we'll get angry".

Why doesn't the UN just get on and make a decision then?

Just goes to show why the UN needs a overhaul as in its current form is nothing but a ****ing contest between the big 5

The UN couldnt make a decision if the lives of half a million Rwandans depended on it.

I have no doubt that some factions have used whatever they could get their hands on in depots, possibly a mortar shell or two. The war is just that vicious.

However its a huge leap to say they managed to collect the arty pieces and a sufficient supply for a concentrated bombardment on three different sites without anyone saying anything. The chemical weapons are the most tightly guarded depots in Syria and the Israelis are watching them like hawks.
