Poll: Syrian Chemical Weapon Attack

Would you support a military strike on Syria without a UN Security Council resolution?

I found the footage shown on the BBC's 10 o'clock news tonight very distressing. The UN really needs to get those inspectors in to hopefully determine how this occurred and who did it. It's hard not to get emotional but we don't really know anything yet. Either side cannot be trusted.

As a side note, I think it's really quite sad when people, including those on here, start with the 'not our war so stay the hell out' BS. OK it's an opinion but how anyone can feel anything but compassion for these people is beyond me.

I cant really see what we can do, Russia wont allow the west to go in and initiate regime change because they wont risk losing the ability to use Syrian docks in Tartus as naval bases. Its a complete mess with no clear solution.

everyone should denounce the rebels then a lot of them will realise they are never going to get support from the west and win and only the hardcore terrorist cells will be left and diehard muslin fanatics

the war will end quicker and all the refugees can return to there destroyed homes to rebuild

Anyone got any solid proof of this? The videos I've seen look fake to me.

I've seen Assad in interviews and he seems very intelligent. I just can't see him authorizing chemical weapon use. If anything it could be the rebels to invoke a reaction from the world.

Don't believe everything you read, Sky News splashing this everywhere and they cannot verify the footage. Why the hell would Assad do this, what would be in it for him?

I don't get why the UN needs permission to go to certain areas within a country to investigate. They're hardly a dog with no teeth, they should just go there and check themselves.

Aren't all modern munitions chemical weapons by definition?

In the same sense a rock is a chemical weapon because rocks are made out of chemical elements ?
my fist is a chemical weapon to!!!
/emote moves into boxing stance and becomes a weapon of mass destruction

They likely don't want to get shot at by either side or drawn into a war

Still not confirmed that it is chemical weapons, or that the government released it... Considering the rebels are falling back and currently the government have the upper hand it would be rather stupid for them go use chemical weapons at this point.

Edit: in fact it would be suicidal and monumentally stupid of them to use them at the moment. On the other hand the rebels, if they had access to anyof it (easilly possible), could easily use it strategically and blame it on the government to use as a polarising event to tip the balance (especially as the west are so anti regime already).

The whole thing stinks of a false flag attack.

The UN inspectors were in Syria 2 days before this attack happened.
