personally there shouldnt be a third,

looking glass studios is gone for a start EA is the only name left on the franchise. whoever picks it up to do a third will just ruin it.

yeah possibly - there is always that.

They should, perhaps, simply remake it, to introduce it to a wider audience....I think we all know in our heart of hearts that, with the best GOG marketing, it will still only reach a small audience...unless it's graphically overhauled properly.

Same for Deus Ex.

Keep the dialogue, characters, story and music but just update the graphics/environments and perhaps add surround sound.

EDIT: I know there is rebirth et al but only a proper graphical update could do it justice imv.

Plus we don't know if the GOG version will work properly too with the mods.

I wish companies instead of just releasing the old game,would actually make some effort, especially when you consider how much the community has done for the game. It just seems like a money grab at times.

Pretty much every GOG version of any game ever released supported mods perfectly, and this one will not be an exception.

And usually they legally cannot include mods, because mods are not official. But they at least provide guides on forums how to apply those.

I might post up a guide for getting some of the basic graphics mods working rather than do any actual work....

edit: Wow. It comes with the unofficial 2.4 update. That's both awesome and very surprising.

I can see your point and for new players I'd recommend the same (actually, without ADaOB too).

I'm planning to play with SecMod, SHTUP, SHMUP, Rebirth Complimented and...hmm..some others that I've forgotten for now

This really is great news. I'm looking forward to reading various impressions from people, especially by those that haven't played it before.

This title deserves a bit of the limelight, since iirc, it was over shadowed somewhat by the releases of HL and Deus Ex.

For your first play through I'd either go with no mods or just with SHTUP and Rebirth Complimented. Neither will change gameplay but they will overhaul the graphics quite a bit.

I was going to post some links but the main site (strangebedfellows.de) is currently under heavy load from all the new SS2 players. I do have a pre-modded version of SS2 sitting around somewhere but it's probably best to wait until tomorrow and the return of the mod site.

For those disappointed with Aliens:Colonial Marines you should check this game out. It might be old, but the atmosphere and gameplay is still great.

I will probably be getting this from GOG...

I loved it when it when I played it, although playing it in the dark, with surround sound speakers is possibly not for those of a nervous disposition...Especially the cargo bay
It is/was one of the few games to really make me jump
