System Shock 2 to come to GOG

Ta Tarty!

Amazingly I was just looking at that having found a link elsewhere!

Going to have to give it a whirl tonight.

Good luck :)

Personally I don't mind the respawning and find it adds to the atmosphere. I can understand it's a personal choice though.

I don't mind it normally it's just that, not having played the game for 5 years or so, when I'm looking around sometimes I miss areas so I end up back tracking and having a shed load of monsters re-spawning all the time gets a little annoying. I'm sure on my second run through with another dude I will remove the patch.

Sounds like a plan :) I'd get SecMod on there for a 2nd run too. Really ups the ante in terms of challenge

Just a word of caution with sec mod, if you are planning to play multiplayer it has a game breaking bug when you reach engineering.

Only the player that activates the door / lift to reach engineering is able to move apparently.

Gutted, I want to play coop with secmod installed, had anyone found a patch or fix for this?

I saw some discussion about this but I'm not sure that there's much you can do :/ I think some people have tried replacing the SecMod engineering .mis file with the original one and that kind of works (though introduces a few other bugs - possibly not show-stoppers though).

Ah well, not to worry. My friend hasn't played SS2 before so I have reverted to your new player friendly version, will try and have a go tonight.

Here's hoping the multiplayer is easy to get going! :)

Good stuff :) It's quite easy to get working from memory (and should be even easier given the 2.4 patch). Just the usual forward ports, supply external IP, etc.

Multiplayer can be a bit buggy sometimes though. You may find you have to cheat at some point as items can go missing (rare but happened to me at least once across 3 coop playthroughs).

Tried both the Tarty files and the mod previously linked and both seem to work superbly. I'm enjoying it that little bit more though it does mean I've got to get back to where I was which is proving a challenge! :D

I highly recommend both sets of files - the graphics mod do make a difference.

Glad they're working for you :)

I've just had a fairly major bug on hydro but I think it was caused by me messing around with files earlier. I don't think it will be a problem for most people playing. At the moment half of hydro has reset for me...sigh.

It works well. It does exactly what it says on the tin. There are four levels and it requires you to restart you game to use it. Essentially once you've done the training 4 boxes appear.

No spawn / no camera spawn
No spawn / camera spawn
Double spawn / no camera spawn
Double spawn / camera spawn

Or something like that - you simply press tab / then right click on the box you want and then you're off. For me - I prefer it at present as I still have ammo left!

I just need a key re-mapper now and I'm done!

Had a go with multiplayer last night, what a crack up! :)

We made it as far as the door to the shuttle bay (need to purge some radiation).

I am trying out hacking/maintenance/energy

My mate is standard/heavy/modify.

Watching him get beat up by a monkey is hilarious!

Only a few glitches requiring save/reload, normally accessing bulkhead doors.

Had to use logmein hamachi to get it running.

Thanks, m4cc45. :)

Most welcome. I unzipped it over the original files (and not in the permanentmod folder) so that's something to bear in mind.

Haven't hit any bugs (about an hour in) yet as well.

Also need to think about multiplayer now as I think it will be a right laugh!

Hell... It's about time!

Good on them for ressurrecting one of the greatest game series ever let's hope this will Lead to System Shock 3 I'm still in withdrawl since the end of SS2.

Sorry for the noddie questions, but:

How do I use maintenance tools? I have a stack of 2, and skill level 2, trying to repair a pistol (currently functioning, condition 2).

The manual says "Drag it onto the weapon that you want to perform preventative maintenance on. You must have at least one point of Maintenance skill in order to use a maintenance tool."

Any ideas?

2nd question, how do I split item stacks? Holding ALT (as stated in the manual) doesn't work and I can't see an option in the customise controls section to assign a key, could someone check their user.bnd file with notepad and list the relevant entry?

Thanks in advance :)
