System Shock Remake!!!!!!!11111one

You can't get the V2 E-pack before doing the grove. Check one of the walkthroughs. The place where you get the V2 is locked by a level security requirement that cannot be met until you've done the grove and returned to the master switch in Diego's office.

(I think Easy difficultly might be different - it seems to let you skip some of the progression requirements? In any case, I'm talking about Normal diff.)

Perhaps you're thinking of the V2 shield, which you get much earlier?

e: Also the grove isn't radiation so the V2 does nothing for you, except what the V1 also does. It's not an upgrade vs the grove. V2 adds radiation protection for doing the Reactor core bits.

Yep - you're quite right. The reason I remember the suit having some effect in the Grove is because of exactly what you say - it isn't radiation in there.

So indeed, you do have to try to speed run the Grove, while keeping an eye on energy and health. There's nothing wrong with that of course - except that it fights against our instincts as gamers!

That said, at medium difficulty, I didn't have any issue with this. I used maybe 3 or 4 batteries and a couple of medikits and medical patches to fully explore the level.

Finished medical. Did not find the code to one of the armory doors however.

Any use for the human skulls or id dog tags?

Loving this so far. Better than I expected. I only ever played System Shock 2 back in the day.

Done Medical, Research, Reactor, Storage, Maintenance and Flight Deck so far.

Definitely no hand holding in this game. I had to look online once or twice as I wanted to move on and not spend ages backtracking and working it out myself :p

Love it though. My kind of game. Well worth the £20 I spent.

Are they going to remake System Shock 2 also?

Conserve your ammo, especially in early part of game, use the blunt weapons as much as poss, then the laser gun when you find it and learn where the recharge stations are, Sparq I think its called, save best weapons and ammo for later, you'll need them ..

I have loads now and they just taking up inventory space. The cargo lift is full. I am going de p them somewhere near a lift I think. Around 30% of my inventory space is ammo

Need to work out which lift I should leave it in front of that is central and easy to get to without too much backtracking.

You're flying through it :p Took me about 10 hours to do each level. Cautiously! On ~60 hours so far with 1 level to go. Had to lol at the difficulty setting that gives you 10 hours, max.

Can only hope they remaster SS2. I agree this game is well worth the asking price.

Meh. Think I'm done with this. Got to the first boss. Unlike the entire rest of the game, you can't die - if you do it's game over.

I've not been conserving ammo particularly well so I've basically got nothing decent to fight it with.

It's a shame. Up to that point the game lets you die and respawn, and never gives you the impression that conserving ammo is something you should do. Or that there will be boss fights!

Then you get to the boss, the rules change, you can't die or it's game over, and you need to bring a truckload of ammo for your most powerful guns.

So... guess that's it :p It's 90s game design, and it's absolutely brutal how they didn't care about being nice to the player back then. Or even consistent.

e: It would also be nice if the bindings for the controller actually worked. For some reason, no matter what you bind "throw grenade" or "use healing" to, pressing those keys never does anything. You have to cycle through all your inventory and press the action key, which is just bonkers when you're taking fire. Controller support in general is awful in this game. Even scrolling through the menus is bugged to all hell.

I got to this boss fight yesterday. I used a berserk and rapier together with a stun granade and it was over in 10 seconds. Rapier energy sword is OP as hell. You don't need ammo, I hardly used any yet. I mainly use energy weapons.

Also I quick save quite a lot so dying is not an issue.

Last I looked at steam counter it was at 14 hours. But might be a bit more now. It was only yesterday when I got to a point where I could not open locked doors and it was not obvious what I should do next that I thought do I carry on going through every room to jog my memory or find something I missed or do I take a sneak peak at a walk through. I did the latter and have no regrets. Once unstuck I just carry on :D

Yeah I haven't been meleeing anything. Prefer to keep my distance :p

I took him on with the Magnum. Was a fun fight (x20)

Couple times I was close to taking him down, and he bounced a grenade off the wall to hit me in cover :p Was not impressed :p

Be careful of leaving stuff in the lifts themselves, seen them disapear and I had to go back to an older save game. I leave stuff outside the bigger elevator (level 3 ish) thats easy to get to from most levels in early part of game, then take them upstairs as needed, there is an inventory slot upgrade or two to come across later as well, the smaller cargo lifts are handy but they dont have much capacity ... I dont remember these being in original game?

As an elderly arthritic hand gamer, still struggling a bit with the cyberspace stuff on easiest level for this, but read some tips last night that hopefully will help, cyberspace even on easiest level in this new game is much harder than original game and I find rather bothersome and even feel nausea doing it sometimes ... no fun at all IMHO.

Rest of the game so far is awesome though.

Also in my research last night, apparently there are a few secret rooms with Easter Eggs as our American cousins call them :) they dont add anything, but you will come across areas if you cross reference on map and wonder how to get there ... I'll say no more.

Also on Executive level look out for a secret panel, this can be very advantageous.

Funny you say that. I was at the executive level recently (moved onto the groves now) and was looking such panels. There are still doors I can't access so maybe they are behind those.

But as fox says some of these things don't quite jump out and blend so well with the walls so I have have missed it. I tend to go over the area again once done with the groves :)

Got the second inventory expansion slot from one of the groves now. Two groves done, now heading to beta grove and it has warned me about using protective gear :)

Was fun trying to win that chest match. Quicksave helped a lot with that :p

I think I am stuck. I done all safety lockz in the groves and interacted with the Master lock in diagos office. But when I go to the diagnostics log termjnal in maintenance it does not let me interact with it :(

Not sure if bug or I am missing something @FoxEye @One 48

Erm. Lol. It was a bug. I went back to the Master lock in diagos office and kept clicking it over and over hoping it would trigger it. Guess what it did...

I assumed there must be a second inventory upgrade from the shape I was left with after the first! I never found 2 though on my playthrough.

Didn't have any trouble with that bit. What did it do?

It just would not trigger the diagnostic log terminal. Then it eventually did.

In engineering now. Explored most of it, going to sort the antenas out next :)

Yep. One is in one of the groves and the other I forgot where it was, but I think it was in storage.

OK well now I have a different problem. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get to the game's penultimate level, lol.

Been everywhere, taken all the elevators, but Engineering is as high as I can get!

And now Shodan has repopulated the levels with high level monsters. Great!

I think the repopulation only continues to occur while the security level is higher. This seemed to be true throughout my game, except for one place where those robot arm things would continue to occasionally spawn even at 0%.

All I can remember about getting to the security level is that it's from an elevator on Engineering.
