System Shock Remake!!!!!!!11111one

OK well now I have a different problem. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get to the game's penultimate level, lol.

Been everywhere, taken all the elevators, but Engineering is as high as I can get!

And now Shodan has repopulated the levels with high level monsters. Great!

Lol. I thought you finished the game. Would be funny if I complete it before you :p:cry:

I think the repopulation only continues to occur while the security level is higher. This seemed to be true throughout my game, except for one place where those robot arm things would continue to occasionally spawn even at 0%.

All I can remember about getting to the security level is that it's from an elevator on Engineering.

Apart from engineering which I am doing now, the rest are at 0% except for one area which is at 2%. Must be a pesky camera I missed. Will have to go hunting for it later on :D

@FoxEye what is your security levels like? :)

This is what you want, this what you get. This is what you want, this what you get. This is what you want, this what you get. This is what you want, this what you get. Completed it! What a game. Loved it. This is exactly my type of game, with a few tweaks it would be almost perfect.

I found the start to be a bit confusing and weak, but once you get going it really picks up. Also I found that I was loving it all the way until the end where you go into Cyberspace. They really should have let you one shot her with the harpoon and be done with it. That was poor directing and pacing imo as the buzz I felt was gone after that.

Can’t wait for the next remake. I also hope they complete System Shock 3. Wasn’t Warren Spector working on that?

@FoxEye In game timer shows 24 hours and 54 minutes of bliss for me :D

9 out of 10 from me by the way.

Oh and don't waste time trying to mass credits by recycling too much. I ended up finishing the game with 400+ coins. That's a good hour or two vapourising/recycling there! Enjoyed doing it though

My security level is 0% on all the levels I've managed to get to thus far ;)

At a certain point, Shodan repops all the levels with extra monsters, regardless of security level. It's a one-time thing. She mentions that she's hunting you down...

I think I'm missing something in Engineering. There are a few doors that I can't get into. They all say "Non-functional". I can only see one elevator on Engineering, so there must be another one behind one of these doors I can't get through :(

e: @TNA last time I checked, Nightdive don't have rights to SS3 - Tencent do. Warren Spector is no longer involved - his studio went under and laid everybody off. Then Tencent acquired the IP. Nightdive have the rights to remake and remaster, but not to make sequels. What a truly mad world...

Cracking Game. I'm sooo glad it all worked out in the end.

Any door that has the broken spanner looking thing on it won’t ever open as far as I can tell. Those are not your problem.

Funnily enough I found Engineering and Security rather easy and breezed through them and as a result don’t remember anything about the maps. I remember the executive map the most. Stared at it so long figuring things out that I can close my eyes and vaguely see it

Not even sure I have an old save file to access that section no more. Will check tomorrow.

Let’s hope Tencent make something. But I would be worried they would use it to actually infect our computers

Nice! What a long never ending list that was. Could not skip and there was no pay off at the end for sitting through it. Though to be fair I was just using my phone rather than watching it.

Yeah, I was worried it would end up being crap, but they nailed it. Let’s hope they remake System Shock 2 and let’s hope Tencent sell the IP to them.

Yeah I figured the same.

There are a few doors that don't have that (broken symbol) but the lights are red. When you click them, the text that appears is simply "Non-functional." It's a catch-all message that just means, "You shall not pass!"

I can only imagine the outrage from the backers if that was skippable

There is an enhanced edition of SS2 on the way using anew engine with mods included. Not a remake like the new System Shock, more a counterpart to System Shock I Enhanced.

Sadly i think a remake is a long long time away, if it ever happens.

Those won’t open either either. At least a bunch in executive did not anyway. I put markers on them.

Yeah, I think you might be right :(

Looked up where the 2nd lift was; I'd walked right past it but the auto-map hadn't plotted it. You have to bump right up to it before it shows up on the map.

Anyway...

That final level. What a huge, huge anti-climax.

Overall solid 8.5/10, it loses .5 for the final level, tbh.

Yep. Ending could have been a lot better. Can't argue with your score. I think I would give it the exact same now that some time has gone by and I can reflect back.

In the meantime I completed Returnal after finishing this. Man, the ending of that was almost as bad. What's up with crap endings all of a sudden

I love the look of this game and might pick it up to play on the deck. I've not looked too hard. Does it have good controller support?

Yes...and no.

The controller works really well in game, but it was designed around a kb/m, so I find myself using a mouse for the inventory.

No biggie.

Don't have a deck, so can't comment on that aspect.

I had issues with a PS5 controller (via Steam overlay) but I've also heard that it works really well with Deck and the issues aren't present there (can't confirm).
