T-mobile Pulse - Android touch phone.

Didn't realise one was supplied, just ordered one on a £15pm tariff on T Mobile website.

Is everybody on 2.1 now? Is it reliable?

You maybe very lucky and get the new enhanced version of the 8220/T-mobile pulse that has an extra 128mb of faster ram! Huawei have quietly released a 'big flash' version of the phone. The extra ram makes the phone run smoother and you can far more apps and should make installing 2.2 a better experience as well. Check out this thread for a link to find out if your new phone is the 'big flash version' http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18166026

Keep us updated of which version you get.

I run Fibblesan's FLB1.1 version of the 2.1 uodate with launcher pro, rooted, apps2sd etc, runs well but I am using a crap 2gig micro sd, I need to get a class MicroSDhc card and it will run better. I think the Pulse is one of the best phones around for the money, and at £15 a month inc internet, it is a bargain.
Enjoy the phone.

Hey,

I was in the local T-Mo shop yesterday, making some enquiries about Android phones - was told by several of the salespeople that the Pulse was a really horrible phone?! Apparently it's got a really high fault rate, and they have now stopped selling it in retail outlets. The stock they are selling online is the last batch they are trying to clear out before discontinuing it (which is why it's dirt cheap on contract).

I thought this was quite surprising since everyone online seems to rate it quite highly?!

Cheers,

Su

Had an email from T Mobile saying that the order will be delayed as the Pulse is out of stock but they have a new delivery coming in so we won't have to wait very long.

This may be the larger memory models then?

What is the standard amount and new amount of memory?

On the phone go to :-
Settings -- SD Card + Phone storage --- Internal phone memory .
If internal phone memory is shown as below 60mb you have the 'small flash version', if you have over 100mb you have the 'big flash version'

I've had mine nearly a year and haven't had any problems apart from ones that i've either made myself due to changing things or small bugs from putting new ROMs on it. I think it's a great phone for the price.

As for the versions with more memory - you won't get a pulse with this. As far as i'm aware it's only the non branded u8220 that has more memory.

After reading around online I think I'll leave 1.5 on the Pulse. Functionalty seems very similar to 2.1 but I keep reading of 2.1 stability issues. Stability and reliability will be much more important to my GF than running the latest fw, she currently uses a Samsung Tocco with no data allowance.

I'm using the oscillation rom, and dont appear to have any issues, neither does my other half who is using the lte community build that I have forgotten the name of from Modaco. However, the Modaco rom was really bad for both of us!

If that's the case I advise putting this rom on http://android.modaco.com/content/t...-u8230-vanilla-style-now-with-online-kitchen/ it's based on 1.5 but is quicker and gets rid of all the t-mobile rubbish as well.

If there is an issue-free 2.1 rom that doesn't throw up errors or crash then I'll use that. What's the name of the rom?

Also, what's the best method for setting up access to Hotmail on the Pulse?

Keep an eye out for the next version of the FLB rom. Seems to be the best one available. Although there are 2 versions - one based one the hungarian t-mobile 2.1 rom and one based on the swedish tre 2.1 rom. I found the one based on the tre one to be the most reliable. I'm just waiting for it to go up on modaco.

Impressed with the phone but the camera is really bad, at least indoors but in daylight.

Probably something simple but after entering text in a field how do you minimise the keyboard. Using the standard android keyboard as it seems more accurate than the proprietary one.

Thanks for that. Second question, when my GF called T Mobile yesterday and when she called me on her lunch today the sound kept dropping out. The call wasn't cutting off and we both had good reception but the phone kept going silent. This effect was at both ends.

Anybody experienced this issue? Perhaps the handset is faulty?

EDIT - I note their is a December 09 update available. Will I need to install this? Can I tell if it has been installed with model/revision numbers?

Any thoughts on the above guys. The issue hasn't rectified itself and the sound drops out for both parties on calls to and from the Pulse. This has been verified in different locations too now.

Hey,

Ordered my Pulse today! It was £35 for the phone (minus £20 Quidco) on a £10pm 24mo contract - however when I tried to order online, I failed the credit check! So I rang up and spoke to a helpful chap called Steven, who apologised for the mistake, and nicely dropped the contract down to £7.50 per month :D so I won't get any Quidco, but I am still £40 up! Yippeeee :D

Roll on Friday when the phone arrives - and screw O2 who wanted to charge me £25 for a similar deal!

Cheers,

Su

Yes you should put that on. The I advise going on modaco and putting on the newest flb 2.1 rom on as well. It's really very good and has no problems(for me anyway)
