Tabletop Warhammer?

Excellent. Looking forward to getting started. :)

Now, um. Could you all do some kind of sun dance so that I can prime my models tomorrow? :D

Also, after ten minutes working with this Finecast guy, I'm really starting to miss metal models. And I hated metal models. :(

I have only done one finecast so far and had very little issues with it. I certainly dont miss metal one bit.

what issues are you having? bar the bent sword

The amount of crap that you need to cut/file away, especially in areas that are hard to get at. I can see myself having to re-sculpt some of the detail on this thing unless I get really lucky. The fact that the whole thing can be made to flex with relative ease is also a little unsettling.

Don't suppose you know the kind of temperature I need to heat this to before I can start to reshape the blade, do you?

Thanks. :)

as above......shame to hear some detail is ruined. Im i not right in saying GW will swap them?

The detail isn't ruined in the sense that the model is a miscast, but the placement of certain vents in the mould has led to bits of resin in awkward places. This is a flaw in the mould itself (from what I'm reading, they've had to add a lot of these vents to many of the moulds to reduce the problems with surface bubbles), so not something that would be fixed by swapping out, unfortunately.

If you look at the image here, you can see the cable running along his arm to the Force Sword. In the area on the underside of his wrist, there were two separate chunks that needed to be cut away, however even with the smallest blade I have, I can't fit it in between the arm and the body in order to be able to cut the remains away in an accurate manner and attempt to re-cut the ribbing in the exterior of the cable, so the best I can do is scrape at it with a piece of emery cloth until it's smooth, paint it dark and hope that nobody notices. :(

I've now checked every army and they're all fine (Woogie some of your stats on the right were wrong so I've changed them) Once LordHughes submits his I'll stick them all in the folder.

In the meantime can everyone please make sure they have their army saved in Vassal, two files, one for Player 1 slot, one for Player 2!

ahh that is annoying. I suppose the boost is at least its in a place underneath the model so wont be too visible on the tabletop. WIll be intrested to see your results

My army is sorted in Vassal. Looks like a nice collection of units. :)

Yeah. I'm considering grabbing a smaller sculpting tool and seeing if I can fit it in the gap. If I can get it in there to work comfortably, I might sculpt the detail back on with some Green Stuff. Depends how much patience I have left at the end of it all. :p

On a brighter note, the sword is now as straight as I can get it. :)

OK LordHughes has had to pull out due to time constraints. All lists are now in the dropbox. Final rules are:

Vassal40k League Season 1

Rules:

Army:

  • A 1500 point army list must be submitted by the sign up date. Once submitted, this army list cannot be changed until the end of the current season. (army lists must clearly state all wargear choices and points values)
  • All army lists must comply with the rules of the chosen codex. (usually 1 HQ and 2 Troops by default)
  • All army lists must be chosen from a 5th edition codex or earlier, 6th edition codex’s are not permitted. No Forge World special units permitted. No allies permitted.
  • Remember only troops (with a couple of exceptions) can hold objectives, don't skimp on them.

Games:

  • All missions are determined by a standard mission type and deployment roll as described in the 5th edition rulebook.
  • Missions are to be scheduled by players at their convenience. It is best for both players to use a chat program such as Mumble while playing a game, while Vassal does have in game text chat it will likely make games much, much slower.
  • All games to be played on a 6ft by 4ft battlefield, terrain to be agreed by both players before start of battle.

Scoring:

  • Victory will be determined by the scenario rules, victories will earn 3 points, draws 1 point and losses 0 points.
  • In the event of two players being tied for points, the deciding factor will be as follows:

  1. Result between the two players
    [*]Number of victories

  • After the final game of the season has been played there will be a select number of points given for the below categories, each category will be voted for by all players, with one nomination allowed each. The player with the most nominations in each category will get 1 extra point (in the event of a draw the points are shared between the winners evenly):

  1. Best Army (This can be most powerful, most interesting army list or even most fluff accurate!)
  2. Best Commander (who impressed you the most with their battle tactics)
  3. Fair Play (Who was the most enjoyable opponent)

Please remember this is a friendly tournament, whether you win or lose, enjoy your games and respect your opponent :)

Player list:

Shamikebab - Necrons
No1newts - Tyranids
clartymarty - Dark Eldar
Woogie - Chaos Space Marines
Jheaton - Dark Eldar
Brabbinho - Imperial Guard

Who is free for a game tomorrow? :)
