Tabletop Warhammer?

Is GW seriously charging an extra £30 for the limited Tau codex on the back of some worse cover art and a slipcover? Obviously I don't have to buy it so it shouldn't bother me but for some reason it still does.
 
Its just about right they ship the orders day or so after I put my order in! not happy but I do need the money this month since I dont get paid for another 4 weeks and I am already skint! Finish everything off with my CSM and make a start on the DE Troops I have. I only had wracks and Inquibi on order anyways so not really that fussed.

I opened a ticket on Tuesday with Total Wargamer about my order and they're just responded today. Fairly standard reply by the comments on this thread, although I do believe the server part as they did announce on FB prior to it going down.

Still got the default "large order due in next 2-3 days" blah blah blah. Not that I mind, they're just slow.
 
Well if Newts can play let him play Heaton, Not feeling too well (been off work sick for 3 days) so may have an early night. If he can't i'll soldier on

Hey J saw the original message and thougt I wasn't needed. Can you still play in 30mins? Promised to drop off my sister down the town in 10mins. Should be back by 9.
 
After picking up the white dwarf today and seeing the riptide I know what my next army will be. Tau were one of my original choices for starting up again but the new chaos stuff (and having just read Fulgrim) lured me to Slaanesh. Now to get this Chaos finished off...
 
Apparently my order from mythreal is being shipped tomorrow. Woohoo you say? Not sure. In their reply they also said they're working all through Easter to get the backlog sorted.... Generic 'keep their customer happy' reply? we'll see....
 
JHeaton defeats Woogie 9 victory points to 8. Four players on 6 points now!

Close game, if we'd rolled a 1 or 2 for the game ending on the 5th turn then it would have been a draw (Woogie had 2 Marines left!)

That was a good game, Plague Marines are tough for puny S3 troops to deal with. :o

So, now I just need to play Newts, and after that anyone who would like a friendly is more than welcome to take on one of my Dark Angels test lists... :D

I didn't take any screenshots of last night and I don't think anyone else is doing a battle report so here's a few highlights I can remember:

  • JHeaton (with a little prompting) remembered he'd bought flickerfields on a few of his vehicles. He then managed to pass 5 out of 6 5+ saves in one turn, much to Woogie's frustration!
  • When Raider's blow up, a lot of Dark Eldar die. In one explosion, half a Warrior squad and half a Wych squad died!
  • Typhus again managed to wound himself by dropping his scythe on his foot
  • He made up for this by rolling the maximum NINE attacks, twice in one game!
  • Typhus died to a host of dark lances after his squad had been wiped out
  • The Lesser Daemons again killed nothing, but survived until turn 2!
  • JHeaton passed a remarkable amount of morale and pinning tests
  • Incubi just paste Marines
  • Haemonculi are incapable of wounding anything
  • The last turn saw the score at 8-7 to JHeaton. Woogie managed to finish off one Warrior squad with his last few Marines, then they survived a turn of EVERYTHING shooting at them. If we rolled a 1 or 2 the game would end as a draw! I rolled a five though (sorry!) and JHeaton finished off the last two marines to claim a 9-8 victory.
 
Yeah, I did start taking screenshots with the intention of writing something up, but then caught up in the game. I think I'd be better at doing battle reports for other peoples' games, so I may volunteer to do some if we play the next season. One thing I will say is that having significantly better mobility is a great advantage when you're playing against an all-infantry army. If I'd had to make my way across to Woogie's quarter on foot, I don't think I would have fared anywhere near as well.

If anyone is free for a game tonight, I have some 1500 and 2000 point lists made up to test out. Just give me a shout.

Also, does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere to sell a bunch of paints that are either barely used or not at all? I have a stack of them that I'm probably not going to make any use of and they're taking up space. Would prefer to avoid eBay but it's looking like the most likely choice... :p
 
I'm definitely up for a game tonight, 2000 pts 6th edition with my WIP Salamanders?

What paints have you got? I might take some of them off your hands.
 
Yeah, 6th Ed. is good for me as it means I can run one of the DA or CSM builds, which should be fun. Just need to decide which now... :p

I also have some older Citadel colours which are free to a good home as they've either been used or they're not as fluid as they used to be, and two Vallejo Game Color bottles that should probably be thrown away but I'm not sure if they're just from a bad batch or these two colours are just poorly-forumulated:

I'm not sure whether to job lot them or list them separately. I just found that since I started replacing them with Vallejo Model Color paints I've been preferring the more matte finishes I've been getting, although it does leave me no choice but to coat them with a decent varnish afterwards as the stuff is not as tough as the Game Color and especially the Citadel. I've taken a coin to the model I coated in Kantor Blue and it's really hard to get through it!
 
Yeah I'm not sure the best way to sell that lot :/

I've added some instructions on how to install Salamanders for Vassal in the Drop Box, you'll need to do it to see my army :p It's just a few files (will also let you play around on Battlescribe if you wish)
