They are so 1 dimentional right now its just dull.

Dont think ive lost a competitive game against knights in the last 6 months, the strategy is always exactly the same.

IMHO they need to make it so for every X points of knights you have to have Y points of supporting corps, something to mix it up from the same 3 lists over and over.

Yeah like I think it can be fun (bear in mind I don’t meta) taking one as an allied unit in a chaos list instead of a couple of Wardogs but yeah 1 dimensional is a great description.
5+ invuln against ranged only (mainly) isn’t great, and I’d hate to have played if my friend had more AT.

I’ve played against a meta list of them in a friendly tournament and it was disgusting, detachment that uses the malefic surges. And he has this Despoiler or Desecrator with twin Gatling guns, he’d use his surge for lethal hits and then have 36 shots with a -2AP 2dmg weapon. And they could move an extra 3” on top of advance right at the start with the movement one. It’s why I didn’t use that detach, I chose a gimped one (lords of dread) that is tailored for taking more big models, but I only have 3 so also had 5 Wardogs.

That said, he really wanted to table me but my Lysander survived so it felt like a win lol.

I ran a 2x ctan list last weekend, used rapid ingress to get them guaranteed charges, the guy just had to sit there as i rolled 2's into 3's into whatever damage and he gets no save at all. Boom knight dead, next.

Yep, I was using assault terminators but only had one block and he had a couple of melee knights. I’d love to use EC against them!

Best one I had on Sat was the Cerastus because he gets free tank shock, had an enhancement for reroll charges, and the only model I had with a 4+ invuln against everything. He was also focus fired down by round 2 but there you go. Another disadvantage being you still get shot while in melee.

This is why I like playing against my friend because neither of us are meta players but we recognise a few good combos which we will implement but won’t research some competition list.

No idea what I’m doing in 11th, want to go back to my chaos stuff but also getting put off by generalist stuff like them and SM. I think EC will be fun as they are fast and finally have a decent AT option with the Defiler, they’re also all assembled (minus Fulgrim) but usually I find I’m missing some core units and I don’t really want to buy more stuff until I fix the horrendous amount of partially finished things.

Edit. Don’t realise murderwing was out so placed a preorder for that. Hate the gimpy possessed looking one, probably going to need another box. Might make the lord into a regular guy as I’m going to end up with two of them anyway.

Got the airbrush out for the first time in about 3 months

Got mine out today and it was in a right state! ended up spending 2 hours completely breaking the whole thing down and cleaning every last bit of paint that seems to have gotten every place it shouldnt, followed by a re-lube and re-assembly, works good as new now.

The curseclaw's optional, you don't have to build him. I built him with normal legs as he was too daemony for my tastes but you can build him as just a plain old raptor as well.

Yeah I will think even if his weapons are better than a chain sword, might just give him a funny arm and have normal legs. Don’t need the chaos lord so there’s some right there that may fit.

Less paint, more painted models

been flat out since Christmas in work and around the house but I did set some time aside this week for painting.

Problem is I’m having doubts about the scheme I was testing out! Some bits I love and others I don’t. With the dark silver it’s hard to see separation in the panels.

I really should just paint my Space wolves collection as I know I can get them knocked out to a decent standard but I can’t settle on a basing theme hah also a few small details like recess tone and fur hue.

They look great. I see what you mean with the panels but there’s not a lot you can do about that, it’s the nature of the armor innit.
Could do some weathering or something to help define them but tbh I think you’re overthinking it.

That Yellow looks really good! What other colours have you used in it? I find that yellow is the hardist to paint to make to look good and yours look fantastic.

Thanks, just prime in a pink and then spray white where I want it more yellow, not really a zenethil as it's more deliberate I guess. Then I use the contrast paint imperial fist for a few coats. In a few spots I will spray a yellow ink, AK primary yellow.

Yes sir, don’t have the patience or skill for blending with a brush. Found this picture before I finished bases but the armour was done.

I'm really bad with infantry, I lose motivation really fast and always get them to like 70% done and they stay there forever lol.

Those Vostroyans look epic that are on sale for the rest of the week. Would love to get some but to get waht i wants your looking at over £500, not so bad for the platoon but the extras. A flamer and a chainsword sarg is the same cost of the squad of 10 with the flamer and the sarge and chainsword.

Been really back into my painting lately!

With all the new orky goodness I’ve decided I HAVE to finish painting everything I’ve got before buying anymore, mainly because I can’t afford it and also because I have no space to store it!

Decided anything infantry based will just be painted to a table top ready standard, lots of contrast and essentially no proper highlighting, and a nice heavy nuln oil wash. The advantage of a horde army is when you have so many models on the table you don’t tend to notice if some of them aren’t painted to the highest standard

Will try and do vehicles and characters/warbosses properly though to advance my relatively beginner painting skill!

Seems like my only 40k friend has lost all interest in the hobby though so don’t have any opportunity to play

Anyone in Essex/Suffolk and want a game?
