Taiwan and China thread.

Poor Apple, iPhone production reduction as Foxconn goes back into Lockdown and it's workers flee running downs the streets to get away.

Lockdowns in China now affect 200 million people

Little bit worrying signs with North Korea - no real military build up but they seem to be increasingly pushing the boundaries to see how far before there is a push back - which likely links into the bigger picture including China.

Anyone seriously think china will invade Taiwan and anyone could stop them . Have been to Taiwan and it’s an amazing place and would be tragic if china was to try and take the island .

Rather a lot of variables to that one. China seems to be slowly but steadily working towards having the capabilities to take Taiwan using an organised military force but are a few years off completion (3-5 years). That doesn't mean they'd necessarily execute when the capability was in place but it would be very expensive to maintain such capability indefinitely (and China is already struggling with the cost of their armies) so it would likely either be used (militarily or politically) or stood down.

They could take various approaches militarily right now including trying to "Zerg rush" it half-arsed depending on numbers over sophistication, simply levelling the island with overwhelming use of ballistic missiles or various long term siege like tactics which would depend on how well prepared and how well internationally supported Taiwan was to oppose such.

If China was to build up for the capabilities required for a massive combined arms operation with the sortie rate capabilities for a convincing win that would be spotted a long time in advance giving Taiwan and their allies plenty of time to prepare.

There doesn't seem to be any ongoing mobilisation in China at the kind of scale required for any form of military invasion of Taiwan any time soon, but the way they are managing civilian and military matters tends to suggest they are preparing the population for war eventually. Russian military command seems to be under the impression China would invade by the end of this year but indications so far don't seem to support that - if there is any imminent invasion we'll likely see mobilisation around Feb/March next year.

This decade seems to have chosen violence - IMO we'll likely see things slip more and more towards confrontation over the next few years.

EDIT: It is another reason though Russia needs to lose and badly in Ukraine - if they manage to succeed in their goals using the kind of strategy they have it will only encourage China to consider rushing Taiwan - they will be paying attention to what happens in Ukraine and it could have significant implications for peace over the next decade.

Imagine putting someone with mental disabilities who can't read and write into position where they are in charge of China's military strategy in combat

I must admit, I've thought the U.S claims that Huawei and others like it were a security risk because the CCP could at anytime access data from peoples devices were dubious . However I still had no issues with the US and Europe banning these company's devices because China plays dirty by using its economy to take tax payer money to subsidise tech firms so they can install hardware globally at prices that kill off established western companies.

But what's happening in China right now proves the U.S was right all along. The CCP is accessing data from user's devices, we're talking about gps location data, remotely controlling your phone, accessing your photos and videos, remotely deleting files on your phone, accessing your messages even deleted ones, analysing installed apps to find VPN and banned foreign apps and all of this is done to find out who supports the protests so they can be arrested by police

More pain for China as Japan and Netherlands to join the exports ban to China

No need for a competent commander when you're strategy is to Zerg rush the enemy, so his position is clearly more about internal politics and a poor attempt to misinform the West into complacency. Also a convenient scapegoat that Xi can execute without anyone caring in China since they perceive disability as shameful.

The CCP has been quick to come up with money following Japan and the Netherlands entering the US chip ban, which restricts China's ability to get ASML equipment to make chips.

So China will need to develop its own machinery from scratch; the CCP has just announced a 1 trillion yuan package to get it started

Not Taiwan related and ignore the title, Trump only pops up in the last 10 minutes, this is all about China and its geo politcal out reach done with the help of our own leaders. Admittedly 2 years out of date but the history is very well explained.

China has admitted its population is now in decline for the first time since Mao's Great Leap Forward and Indian will soon pass China

The US should send a few of their own baloons over China... not with any tech onboard (I'm sure the US has what they need from advanced satellites) but rather just to say hello back and to **** with them a little.
