Taiwan and China thread.

Situation with North Korea, not really worth starting a thread on, is getting far more worrying IMO than is generally being talked about, hard to know how serious it is being taken behind the scenes. Persistent loss of diplomatic channels and having to go via China for diplomatic means has historically been a very concerning sign though it may simply be a technical issue or some other less concerning explanation.

Only a matter of time before NK comes to a head. However, if we think Russia are incompetent I can only imagine NK will offer us a massive "hold my beer" moment.

I bet North Korea have forgotten the massive minefield they helped lay and will just mindlessly walk all over it much like those morons who dug holes in the red forest.

It might be prudent to add an extra mile or so to the DMZ and just lace it with mines to further impede any possible idiocy.

I think NK will me more a case of plan meeting reality than the kind of incompetence seen with Russia where there doesn't seem to be a plan at all. Like China and Russia they suffer the same problems of power being tightly gripped at the top and any autonomy in the ranks suppressed.

China has the ability to make some big once in a century type moves and I think Taiwan is one of the them, and pumping up the yuan as a reserve currency is another.

Taiwan would be very costly for them and the yuan is already a reserve currency along with USD, EUR, GBP and JPY. It's not going to replace the USD as a global currency though as they're not willing to give up on their lack of transparency etc.

I can see China using North Korea as a distraction for the USA. Goading them on and offering aid. However I think North Korea are currently occupied with their war against Atlantis.
China will kick off with the help of North Korea, sooner than what people think. We are going to wake up one morning and hear how they have started to invade Taiwan.
I wonder if Arab's will hit israel, will it be at the same time?

The Arabs can't even invade their own (culturally and politically unable to wield a strong army due to coup risks), so no they aren't invading Israel.

Yeah the Yuan is so great every Chinese person I know holds life half their money in USD and can't stop telling me about how they keep buying more USD. It's really funny that if the Yuan is so great, why is it that Chinese civilians are trying to hold as much USD as possible

To make it harder for the CCP to seize and control their finances

China just casually having their own police station in NYC. This is pretty wild.

Chinese foreign policy be like: Do not involve yourself in our domestic matters, you racists. No we do not operate police stations in most major western cities to spy on and control your people. Why are there Chinese police cars doing fake arrests on people protesting against China in western cities? Must be random patriotic citizens

The CCP puts a lot of effort into their image abroad to shape the narrative and they've learned that the most anti-China speech comes from Chinese immigrants who are happy to be out of that ********. That's why they have setup covert police stations overseas, to control their immigrants. These stations are not easy to find - they are usually run out of a suburban house or an old office building with no advertising or anything from the outside to tell it apart. The key part of their work is to enforce Chinese domestic law globally on Chinese people - that means no protesting against China or Xi Ping or the CCP

If it's allowed to continue, they will continue to expand until it becomes normalised for Chinese law to apply to Chinese people globally and foreign governments will not intervene or may even assist them

I know it goes on but I still find it hard to get my head around.

As in how on earth can this happen, just strikes me as bonkers. Also shows that China really don't give two hoots about foreign governments and thier laws which is alarming to say the least.

I believe they are mainly there for kidnapping problematic Chinese citizens abroad. I seem to remember hearing that they run a number of these globally.

Edit just seen that grims done a better write up

China "slams" western media reporting about its falling population. It doesn't like that the west seems to be happy that China is in decline and they want to point out that western countries also have low birth rates, but the Chinese's spokesperson forgot to mention that western countries do not have a falling population because we allow immigration, while China has undertaken a campaign of kicking out foreigners on visas in China since 2020

Do you have more information about this campaign of kicking out foreigners on legitimate visas? I have never heard of this happening where I am.
They certainly had a crack-down on foreigners who were working illegally, and on those who had lied (or had specific agencies lie) to get their visa.
