Talk to me about E60's

Really? I'm absolutely fed up of my stupid Gateway 100 in my car at the moment, so much so I've pretty much given up with it :D

Dension's customer support is some of the worst I've ever seen which doesn't help either.

I have heard you saying beofre how bad the 100 is. But the Gateway 500 intergrates into MOST cars really well. Heres a link again to the A6 with it installed in case you haven't seen it. It works exactly the same through BMWs iDrive, plus you can add other inputs to it such as USB sticks, harddrives and rca inputs. http://www.dension.com/icelinkgateway500.php

Not discounting anything at this stage.

SE's seem a lot more common than Sports, what are the major differences between the 2 and what sort of cost / parts would be required to make the SE look like the E60

Sport adds:

M-Tech bodystyling
M-Tech alloy wheels
M-Tech Sports Suspension
M-Tech gearstick/steering wheel
Anthracite headlining
Sports Seats
///M Branded sill strips
Dechrome

To add this would cost thousands. SE's look really nasty, Sports look acceptable. Problem with the E60 is its no longer an elegant looking car :(

Don't rule out the 520d - it's the poor relation of the 5 Series family and as a result it's terrific value, you can buy 06 plate 520d Sports for under £20k. A 525d or a 530d, whilst of course much smoother, are much more expensive.

520d Sport has 177bhp so is no slouch.

Only the 57 plate onwards will have the 177hp engine. An 06 plate will have the old 160hp engine. It's still no slouch though.

5 series is a good looker in my opinion and along with the Z4 it's the only really good looking car in the range. The SE's look a bit weaker mostly because of the blander bumpers, but apart from that they're not too bad.

I personally think the E60/61 is a really good looking car and it makes the E39 look quite old both inside and out. But then Owning one I would be biased;).

Hope you're going for a more adventurous colour than "tarmac" grey...

'Hopefully'? Surely if you've decided to buy it you already know if its any good
they are replacing the 320d with a 525d because the 320d is crappy. (its an accident loan car)

No matter what I do I can't get the fact that the way the lights on the front of E60s wrap around looks awful. Spoils the car imo.

tbh, the looks kinda grew on me over the 2-3 weeks, and 1500miles I had it. To begin with, I thought it ugly, at the end I was indifferent.

The seats were supremely good though! If I could find a sofa half as comfortable as those, I'd be a happy man!
