Talking to someone who claims they will kill their-self if

now he's a burden to the state too, bet he gets less pip over his lifetime than most politicians claim on expenses in 1-3 years.... or day if youre Truss taking a trip to AUS
LOL Demonise the poor!!! not the champagne socialists milking the system., no wonder these people always grin like the Chesire cat

we all know why inflation really happened, dodgy contracts during covid, dodgy loans, dodgy takeaway orders and Fishi Rishi being in charge of finances

the plebs must pay for the cost of years of dodgy dealings and a decade QE fiscal policy

If it’s means tested then it will come to light if people are trying to fake it.

Not saying they will or are but this is what the tests are for. As long as they pass the means test it will be fine surely?
Means test isn't a test of disability, it is an income test. The purpose of DLA which became PIP was a payment to assist people in coping with the disabled aspect of their life, not related to whatever income they can generate.
Means testing would basically conceptually change the PIP payment entirely.

Just to clarify

You think it's Labour who "despise the poor/disabled"?

Judging from their previous history it is obvious that they are a party of people haters, but perhaps before peoples heads start to explode from the truth, it might be better left to another thread to avoid this one becoming derailed ;)

Edit: I'm ready for the usual insults to start flying my way

That’s why it’s more complicated I didn’t say I was for means tested but it needs to include other factors of life.

Not 1 person is the same in this field. The common factor is they can’t work.

I’m well aware of this.
Incorrect.
Many of them work, it is a payment related to coping with disability, it isn't meant as an income payment

I know it’s an income test.

I know.

He means assessed. It's a typo.

I know what they mean. I’m joking.

Not got anything to add other than some of the replies in this thread are utterly shameful and down right disgusting.

Yeah I've skimmed through the thread and I'm surprised as well. @Maccy and @Feek should have another look over this thread.

Such a topic would be better off in Mental Health.

there's nothing wrong with the thread where it is, what is wrong is some of the replies. hiding the thread away to protect it from half witted replies is not a solution. dealing with the half witted replies and those who have posted them is.

Well, this is where you and I would disagree, but that's fine. I personally think a topic about someone's friend wanting to kill themselves is not suitable to be out in the open in GD, and the poster should be encouraged to post in the dedicated thread, where more experienced posters will respond more appropriately and helpfully. Otherwise one either has to delete posts here, warn posters and/or lock or delete it.

That ship has sailed and some of those harmful posts have been here since yesterday. This hasn't been dealt with well. In fact, I would say this thread has possibly been counterproductive.

I think it would be more of an issue if it was the person themselves who posted about wanting to kill themselves. But yes, unfortunately as it's it GD it brings the trolls out in what is a pretty serious subject. :(

I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I’ll say again, this will simply not happen.

The government never rule things out before budgets as it makes their budgets seem better when it is finally announced

Having had experience of this sort of thing in the past with someone who also threatened to off themselves multiple times. I can say with 99% certainty, those who say, will never actually do. It's the people who are quiet who are more likely to actually go ahead with it.
