Televising Wimbledon Annoyances (and discussing the tournament itself)

Mate, you were watching a different match to me. No way did heather blow it; Serena was just a bit better when it came to the crunch.

Heather's weakness is her serve unfortunately...if she improves that then top 10 for sure. She has 'murray-esque' scrambling return powers :D

Actually they did introduce something call a "biological passport" in September 2014 to help combat PED use. While correlation does not equal causation, it can be noted that Nadal disappeared from the tour for a few months soon after its introduction and since then has been in the worst form of his career. Make of that what you will.

Interesting. I remember a while back there was some Doctor in Spain who had his premises raided due to suspected involvement in sports doping.

It was said that they found evidence that certain high-profile sporting stars had been doping. Iirc, they said that there were high-profile football players, cyclists and tennis players. I'm pretty sure the case went to court to try and stop the names of these 'stars' being released to the public.

Watson is a great player don't get me wrong, but I struggle to rate someone who blew as many chances as she did in that match. Sure, she was a set down to the best female tennis player ever, and she fought back. But you can't waste so many golden chances in such a situation.

Reminded me a lot of a younger Andy Murray who did the same but never to quite this extent. I said this about Watson before because she really struggles between playing sublime tennis and letting her head-game fall to pieces :(

I'm not sure her head went, but Serena got her act together and started playing solid percentage tennis.

In the second set and the first half of the third, she was trying too hard to beat Watson. Heather doesn't have the weapons to beat Serena - she'll get outmuscled every time. What she will do is get most things back into play with good angle or depth. In the second and early third, that was all she needed to do to get under Serena's skin. Serena turned it around when she stopped trying to hammer Watson off the court, and played a little more patiently.

I think this was a bit of a one-off for Heather at the moment, and she's a long way off the top. She's a great young player though, and I'm not saying she won't get there, but to beat the likes of Serena, Sharapova, Kvitova, she has to be able to win points, rather than merely relying on her opponent to lose them.

Edit: Standard Murray hissy fit!

I understand the crowd are enjoying it but boy are they annoying when they're making so much racket point to point. Good job Murray, what was with that third set?

I want to throttle John Inverdale... He is such a ****. He can't form an opinion, his endless inane questions about rubbish and he has his head so far up the butt of all the talent it's ridiculous. Hate him.
