Tell us something unique/special about your club

Were the only club to have 2 stuffed Owls at either corners of our stadium, this is too keep birds off of the pitch:D What a good idea...;)

I'm quite sure we are the newest club in the football league, 11 years - 3 promotions.
I'm also quite sure were the first club to reach the playoff's in our first season in Division 3, and then go on to win it the following season :D

(Rushden 4 - 1 Oldham - today:D)

Theres more...

I'm not sure this is a record, but im sure it equals one.
We have never been relegated, started in Ryman South and worked way up to Dr Martens/Unibond, Conference, then Div 3, Now Div 2....Still going strong:D:
9 Port Vale 28 9 3 2 30 21 3 3 8 14 21 2 42
10 Rushden 28 7 4 3 30 19 4 2 8 17 24 4 39
11 Luton Town 26 8 3 2 25 14 2 6 5 16 25 2 39

Something to do with the club's official nickname?

to me UTD still represents the true United, manchester united

anytime me or any of my mates from various places, london manchester, liverpool, leeds etc, as soon as u say UTD they presume u mean man utd

similarly when looking on planetfootball or something everyone looks at the stories entitled "UTD .....xxx......xxx....blah blah" initially think its interesting cos they preusme it to be about UTD (the real one, man utd that is) only to read it Aand find its just some lazy journo trying to generate interest in a crappy article by tricking everyone into thinking that man utd were involved, when really it was boston utd all along

In 1947/48 Newcastle United's average league attendance was 56,283 making us the first club in the world to average over 50,000.

What makes it unique is that at the time we were in the 2nd division and are the only club in the world to have averaged over 50,000 for a league season outside of the top flight.

When Arsenal play all of the players will either play with long sleeves or short sleeves. Just heard this on skysports now, very interesting/odd fact

Might mean it to you, but how can a club who's official name isn't that be the true one? Maybe its arrogance like that which makes the entire footballing world hate you and your club?

My thoughts exactly, arrogance beyond belief.

Oh yea another one for Bristol City, although it is not a unique record, we are joint holders of the most consecutive league wins in a row in a single season, with Man U, Preston and us holding the record.

That is odd. Too cheap to give the players a choice of 2 shirts? :)

Amazing thing is it's actually true if you think about it. Search for Arsenal on google images and see if you can spot one where they have different sleeves.

That's awesome trivia :D

lol they were asking why but the kitman said it was a tradition at the club and the captain chooses either long or short sleeves. They have both there though so we aren't that cheap :p

Stoke City were the first top flight team to play a competitive match at home on a sunday..

it was against Chelsea and stoke won the game 1-0 with geoff hurst scoring the only goal in front of 32,000 fans.

i also think we have the record for the oldest player, the great sir stanley matthews who played his last game for stoke at 50 years young.

99/00- Conference Runners up
00/01- Conference Champions
01/02- Division 3 Play-Off Runners Up
02/03- Division 3 Champions
(03/04 - Division 2 Runners up/Champions/Play Off winners????:D)

The only club to ever do that?
The only club to ever finish in a top 6 position in 4 consecutive seasons?
The only club to win something in and out the football league over a period of 4 seasons?

Pete.

We currently hold the Premiership attendance record of 67,758, set yesterday.

On another note, is our nickname The Red Devils? I always thought it was Man Utd. In fact, according to www.manutd.com its 'The Reds'. Odd.

Could the devils of been removed due to it being satantic!
Honestly, there was a local news item a year or so ago as a local team was forced to change it's sponsor or name for that reason, and it had come from the FA!
