Tempest Rising - a new Command & Conquer for 2023

I'm not sure at the moment my initial thoughts are the same from the original game play release.
it more a C&C Generals than a C&C Red Alert tittle, i mean in the game play feel instead of looks.
seems a bit more micro management needed also.

I keep moving the drone operators by mistake instead of drones. its irritating when drones (i.e. 1 of 3) dies and you move them (drones) away only to have 1 of the drone operators (the drone operator who lost the drone) move as well when you didn't want them to.
Control range of the Drones would be helpful, even if its a case of as drones further away the whole screen starts fading or something might work.
although other comments from people seem to indicate there is one so maybe just didn't see it or realise what it was.

i didn't get to far in to mission as wasn't feeling great.

system requirements are a little high for me so i'm limited to when i can play this (4gb GPU is what i have with a NVIDIA 1650 Low profile, it works but gets very noisy) (i use steam streaming)

The steam steaming works well so for when tested smooth with out any real issues i could see, this is my main way of playing high demand games currently

keeping eye on this one i suspect i'll end up etting it, but need a PC upgrade first really

Been really looking forward to this but feel a little let down after playing. It really is old school CnC but the graphics are really bad for 2023 - worse than the last CnC game that came out Tiberium Twilight 13 years ago. Even the cutscenes are poorly executed, bad lip synching and cartoony looking characters. They could have done much better with this to revive the excellent CnC franchise from the dead.

Riftbreaker looks and plays far better. Alternatively look at the very good Starship Troopers. This just smacks of lack of effort from the devs (THQ Nordic) to me.

I have no doubt the game could be tonnes of fun, it's just that it could have been much better.

  • Graphics aren't great.
  • It's hard to distinguish between units.
  • Why can't I see unit health by selecting them? You have to be actively holding over them.
I agree with the above reviews, it's not looking good.

On the plus side, did they at least avoid using bears and other wacky units?
Red Alert 3 was better than this.

I thought the visuals were good enough. They're not ground breaking, but I don't think they're bad either, seems to run well enough too.
I played through the mission yesterday and it seemed ok for a starter mission with a lack of unit choice. The gameplay did seem a bit basic, I've really been spoiled by playing lots of Beyond all Reason recently.
As Longbow said, it's not as clear as it could be to tell the difference between units, and the lack of showing the health unless you are actively doing a selection is an odd choice.
