Tennis

Writing was on the wall then it was Ruud that made the final rather Zverev. #4 player in the world playing the best tennis of his life (in the first set), still isn't enough to beat a mediocre Djokovic (by his standards). The big three, two, or one as it is now are just different animals. Over best of three sure, someone like Ruud or Rune has a chance. Over best of five, it's not happening.

We've seen Ruud in GS finals before and unfortunately he's always disappointed. Zverev (like him or loathe him), has a higher talent celling, as we saw in the match between him and Nadal at RG last year. If he's firing on all cylinders, he can trouble Djokovic more than Ruud IMO.

Will be a well deserved number 23 for Djokovic if he closes it out. Likely to go on to win Wimbledon too, and given he never received any points for Wimbledon last year, should comfortably be world number 1 for the majority of the year.

I was more interested in the women's final yesterday. Great performance by Muchova, but Swaitek ultimately having too much class and sealing her 4th Grand Slam by the age of 22 (3rd French Open). Brilliant stuff.

It's tough to say - Ruud is consistently reaching finals, something which Zverev has never managed.

Djokovic won his first slam at 21, but that was almost seen as a freak event and it took him another three years to reach number 1. Unlike Roger and Rafa, he didn't appear as a teenager looking destined to be one of the best ever. He worked incredibly hard to fix a few technical deficiencies, particularly his second serve, and changed his mentality pretty drastically in that time.

Ruud is never going to be as good as the big 3, but I'd put him ahead of Zverev already by virtue of his performance in recent slams. If he can learn from how Djokovic developed his game and his mentality then he can get there. He's got a couple of years advantage on Zverev, who is fast running out of time to do anything of note.

Murray has a really tricky draw at Queens, De Minaur has a difficult style for him to play against. Basically a worse version of a younger Murray.

Alcaraz is playing Queens this year too. Despite Murray's experience on grass you'd still expect Alcaraz to have the edge.

Not sure about de Minaur on grass. All his wins over Murray have been on hard or clay.

Murray v Penistone Wimbledon opener then either Tsitsipas or Thiem in the next round. Id actually like Penistone to progress, tough match against either of those though.

Keys made short work of Gauf in the semi and Kasatkina today in the final at Eastbourne, could maybe go far at Wimbledon.
