Tennis

First time I’ve got no sympathy for her. She’s barely played a game since Wimbledon, whoever advised her to sit out and go shopping needs the boot. She looked like someone who hadn’t played any tennis.

Having seen her insta she seems to be doing anything other than play tennis.

Better to have won Wimbledon last year to complete the calendar year grand slam, than retire.

Still needed gold.

There’s still a good chance he just plays the slams, gets into peak physical fitness and wins them with ease.

As above 2nd round exit for alcaraz.

They just don’t have the consistency to compete with him and he’ll now have the upper hand mentally with Alcaraz after a couple of high profile defeats the one he really wanted he won at a canter.

So I’ve taken the time to watch some
of the US open for the 1st time properly and I can’t help but notice the atmosphere is pretty much dead unless it’s an American playing, loads of empty seats etc and just generally “flat” Is it usually this bad?

Yah, tennis hasn’t been the same since Roger retired. Rafa retiring won’t help it one bit at all either. Need a couple of stars to come through that are compelling to watch, consistently good and not controversial.

You can have the latter but it can’t be the sinner PEDS.

Looks like the new era is finally being ushered in. Would have put good money on Djokovic winning this, but then of course he didn't play any build up tournaments, IIRC either did Alcaraz after the Olympics, so that might have hurt them.

Previously Novak would have been good enough to walk into the second week even being out of practice or a little off. Seems not anymore. Last year's Cincinnati really helped him that year. All that being said, Popyrin has given him a scare before.

I wonder if this could finally be Zverev's year. The Men's draw is wide open now. Though I still think the women's is where the real action is.

I don't think I like Zverev.

he had knee surgery in June so i would not put a penny on him to win any match at the moment, he is not Superman even though he probably thinks he is
