TERA release date announced.

Hit cap for head start earlier today and hopefully should have my next 38 by Monday night. My guild had been naughty and stole 3 other guilds names, caused quite the drama :D

guys when is the game released? Also does anyone have thoughts on this vs gw2?

I played in both EU and US beta's and found the game wore off pretty quickly for me. The combat is quite novel but becomes very restrictive and bland however I didn't hit max level so I reserve judgement. I was logging in and playing for 15-20mins then wanting to play something different.

For under £20 I don't think you can go wrong and you then have a month to make up your own mind, but the costly subscription was also a factor in me not persuing it past beta.

GW2 hasn't had the best starts with regards to the BTW, it's also quite laggy once ingame with tons of players running about. PvP is great fun so far and for that alone I'm satisfied it will be a good purchase for me. There's no release date so lot's could change but with no subs and being a fan of GW1 it gets my vote.

I personally found both quite uninteresting mmos less so with tera because of its combat and the fact you can play with a controller but I will pass since diablo 3 is soon :)

Just waiting in the que for essenia server. Im looking forward to playing it with a controller, ive never played an mmo like that before. Gonna roll a mystic, i was one in the closed beta. I had no trouble getting into groups, i was very wanted:)

Took me 70 mins to get on, but i managed to play for about 3 hours. As soon as i joined i got randomly invited to a guild. So i thought hell why not join, then i grouped with 2 players. We managed to get to level 11, which i thought was really good for me.
I really enjoyed playing as the mystic i got so far 2 main attacks and plus i chuck down lots of health orbs which is quite good fun. I havent touched pvp yet, im not sure when you can. But tbh ill carry on levelling up a bit more. I also got my mount, which looks a bit odd as im a gay dog with pink gloves with a heart on the back of my head and im riding a white horse:D

Not easily, at least for me with 360 controller. Gave up with Mystic and just stuck to playing Lancer.

You've got to map everything to a, b, x, y, left trigger, and right trigger. Left button and right button, are modifiers. Not so much an issue with lots of binds, more of the problem of turning and casting at the same time so anything that moves (people) and a class that needs aiming sucks on controller as there wasn't an auto aim in the beta.

Gave up on the controller, so much better with keyboard and mouse.

I have to say that this game has been something of a suprise for me. I had no intentions of playing it at all and thought it was just the usual Korean grindfest. Figured I might as well try the open beta the other weekend and really enjoyed it, certainly enough to pre-order the US version.

The only downside to the game for me is the early levels, I just think the prologue where they start you at level 20 for a little bit was silly (luckily it can be skipped) and the beginner island for levels 1-11 gets a bit boring, I think I must have had 5 separate quests to kill the same tree mobs so it was certainly a bit of a chore getting through this bit, but once you're off the beginner island the game really shines imho. The Pegasus ride to the mainland was a jaw dropping moment, some of the visuals in this game are stunning.

I just love the way the combat feels in this game, whether it will get old quickly is another matter, but for now I'm really enjoying it. I've been having a blast on one of the US PvP servers playing a priest. Was riding around last night looking for PKers and healing their poor victims and helping turn the tables on them :) I love the way the dodge mechanic works and it means you can often stand a chance against higher levels, certainly at escaping anyway. I've only got up to level 15, but by all accounts it is supposed to get really good from level 20+ and I'm really looking forward to trying to take on these BAM's (Big Ass Monsters) which seem to be open world bosses that roam about, sounds like fun.

As for how it compares to GW2, hmm, it's difficult as to be honest as I'm really enjoying both games. I'd say for me Tera has the edge purely because it runs fine on my system where GW2 runs horribly (I'm running an old Q6600, 4gb, Nvidia 285GTX). Maybe it is the Beta client in GW2 but that is the first game that has made me think 'Deffo time for an upgrade', so for now I can see me playing Tera, certainly until I can afford a new PC to run GW2 properly. As for gameplay itself, I found the questing system much more interesting in GW2, but the combat system of Tera felt better to me.

Thanks for the acceptance to the guild Sawell, looking forward to playing with you guys. Tend to prefer US servers for these type of games, I played on US servers in LOTRO perfectly fine and OBT/yesterday were smooth in TERA too.

This is my first proper experience of a PVP server, but quite looking forward to it!

I have just discovered this game after being on a fairly long MMO break and was considering pre-ordering :)

I noticed several people here saying they are going for the US version/servers instead of the EU ones, I was curious if there were reasons for this beyond following friends/guilds?

I tend to find that with US servers the vast majority (probably 90%) of people speak english, rather than a mix of languages.

Anyone else just get that upgrade and receive free stuff email?
Wonder if it works by inserting a retail code.
