Terra Nova

As for drunkenmaster what are you doing still watching it? You've basically said it is a load of crap (fair enough) weeks ago so not sure why you keep watching and posting :)
I'm still sticking with it even though it's indescribably awful and clearly unlikely to improve... it's oddly watchable for some reason, maybe because it's (mostly) attractive people in an attractive setting, and it looks nice in HD. A bit like the reasons I watch Strictly Come Dancing, even though I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in... errr... dancing.

I am still waiting for realistic raptors to jump out of the bush and run away with their children, only for the parents to find them all eaten up and half the young girl is hanging out the one raptors mouth.
I like this suggestion... and in the next scene, Doctor HotMom is so taken aback by this unexpected turn of events that all her clothes spontaneously fall off.

Personally I am sticking with this (and the walking dead) just because, although it's bad, it's kinda interesting.

Going from the latest Terra Nova ep in the states, the story might be just starting to pick up, so we shall see next week.

I've got a feeling that the first few episodes have been mostly character building done through a few small, weekly challenges that the characters have had to face. I'd imagine the main story will kick off soon with regards to the scribings all around the waterfall and the reasoning behind the six'ers.

Stargate SG-1 started in a very similar way and that became a very good series.

I think when you have a big budget people expect a bit more than 6 hours of character building though, they want action from the offset. Take Space: Above and Beyond as an example, huge (at the time) $1.5m/episode budget, had a few good fight sequences early on before we'd fully got to know the chacters (incidentally the 'leader' in Terra Nova is so much like James Morrison's character in SAAB!).

At the moment I'm struggling to see much that puts this ahead of Outcasts apart from a better-looking cast, I mean if you compare the two shows to date they are very similar.... base set up on an alien(old) world, a few 'soap opera' type internal dramas, some sort of weird outcast/sixer people like outside the main base for mysterious historical reasons, strong-willing commander that has to take tough decisions, the odd love interest etc. Only thing we've not seen much of to date is politics in Terra Nova but I imagine that will come at some stage, I doubt they will get through a whole series without somebody seeking to challenge Taylor's authority.

Well some think it "mnight" pick up but this is one of those shows that you know won't ever pick up because it has that look and feel to it. The look and feel of failure.

I've been watching this. The US puts out so much drivel, yet a lot of it is still better than the rubbish produce in the UK with its washed out colours and 6 episode series.

As mentioned this show is similar to Falling Skies, which of course received rubbish reviews too.

This is basically a watch it because i have the time type of show

On the plus side, I heard the US are doing a remake of the NZ show "This is not my life" hopefully that runs for more than one season

The story is slowly moving along, latest ep is pretty good compared to some of the earlier filler ones.

I don't get the CGI though. Sometimes it's amazing (komodo dinosaur thing) then other times it's absolutely cringeworthy (the swordfish thing).

No consistency!

Edit; haha I see the fish was mentioned above. I knew I couldn't have been the only one to think that :p

I'm starting to quite enjoy this..

I wasn't sure at first and was getting the general feeling of failure too but now it seems to be picking up a little.

Some of it is too predictable and the cgi is at times not very good but I'll put up with that as, as noted above, its was better than some of the stuff the UK forces its public to watch.

the first few episodes kept me intrigued, but i am kinda finding it boring now.

i have seen 1-7, will keep watching it, as the family seem to like it.

lets see if it gets any better.

My God this show takes the biscuit! Shannon has just looked at a broken window and come to the conclusion that someone must have broken through the window!

that makes it more than acceptable. Reading this sub form. People expect to much and watch stuff they shouldn't be watching. ad it's pretty much every series and every film posted on here.

It's more than watchable, it's not brilliant and it's pretty much what I expected. Shame they aren't concentrating more on the main plot line and falling into the same old and tiered SCI-FI trap, of one episode one mini story line.
