Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

This game is frickin hilarious. 3 of us on a server... one guy goes afk for 10 minutes and comes back asking "where are you", we reply "look under the house". We had pretty much pixaxed down a few miles... found some quite cool **** though. Unfortunately we got swamped by blobs :(.

That's a good idea. You should keep going until you hit hell. If you keep the tunnel totally vertical you can just free-fall straight to hell. You can put some water at the bottom to break your fall :)

Glad to see people starting the game. :)

Ringiho and I have been playing on a server tonight, it was pretty good, except we not very lucky with drops/chests at all! :(

Where do I build a house on the server? just any where thats free or is there a certain place.
You can build a house anywhere you like :) In order to get NPC's to move in to your house, it must meet certain criteria:

There must be artificial lighting (a torch does the trick), there must be a door, table, chair, and walls. By walls, I mean walls that you craft, they cover the background of your house, and stop mobs from spawning inside the house. If you collect cobwebs and turn them into silk, you can combine the silk with some wood to make a bed. Place the bed inside your house, and that is where you will spawn when you die.

E: If you mean the OcUK server, if you head left from the original spawn point, you will find a fairly large base already constructed. Feel free to use that.

I suck at this, tried to build things but gels kept surrounding me and killing me.

Is it better off if I try this on my own or join a server and play around in there.

No idea what I'm doing really either, closest thing to a tutorial seems to be one npc that just says random things :(

When I played this earlier, I had silk, and I had wood, but I couldn't seem to be able to craft a bed?

A sort of list of what things to make at the start would be nice for us newbs. :)

There are recipes when you press exit down the left, can't find out how to combine things though. I've made two wooden walls to keep the gels away.....somehow i survived the night with no house.

show silk or wood to the guide, and he'll tell you how many of each item it will need for each recipe :)

Have my finger over the purchase button, didn't think i would get it since it was like Minecraft (which i bought during alpha :D ) in 2D, but i'm extremely bored so... someone convince me to press it? :p

Even so, it'l be 'fun' getting it to work in Linux.

Just buy it :p

I went to the right and ended up in some corruption and got raped. So decided to dig down below my house. Got a fair way down before I ran out of inventory space, found some Copper, Iron and Silver Ore along with some Diamonds and Sapphires. Hopefully I have enough to craft a new pickaxe (but I doubt it).

Next I need to start working on the Guides house which is going to involve some heavy duty levelling the ground off and the Merchants. Is there anything wrong with making the NPCs houses a multi-story? :p Assuming I take care to separate them properly with 2 layers that is.

Don't have a bloody clue what to do after that though ><

Nothing wrong with a multi-story tower, mine starts about 200 feet above ground, then has (I think) 8 levels, with different building materials depending on if it's meant for storage, or npc's.

Anything!

Explore some more underground stuff. You'll find chests and hearts that increase your max HP. There's islands in the sky with some cool stuff. There's also a jungle area and a castle but they will probably be too difficult for you right now. If you keep digging you'll eventually hit hell :)

This game is going to be a problem, hours are passing very quickly :o

Got my house and starting to collect some more wood and stone so I can build some more levels.

My only complaint so far is that night is really long with not much to do, if I go out of the house the zombies and eyeballs wtfpwn me quite quickly. I'm basically just sitting around waiting for dawn, what do you do at night with the basic equipment?
