Test Drive Unlimited 3 is officially being made :)

In my case, I loved TDU 2 but it wasn't about the cars or the driving at all. I just loved exploring the scenery of Ibiza and Oahu. So it's more of the same, especially the massively long coastal challenge drives, I'm in. (Plus it had a fantastic soundtrack!)

I was in a group, we met every evening, we used to race other people, such a good laugh

I have fond memories on TDU 1, playing back when I was out of school just sitting on this one famous drag strip in a Saleen S7. The most popular car everyone would use it, next to the Koeniggsegg.

If you know this road... you know ;)

Used to sit on a lobby on the mic well into the morning, i miss those days. Had a mate I ment on TDU from Plymouth but haven't spoken to him since we were both 19 and im 32 now :( No longer got the xbox account but I only remember his name. Good memories were had makes me smile just remembering it.

Yeah TDU2 just had a great vibe and while not the best graphics ever there was lots of little graphical details which made an impression.

I could drive for hours to:

Probably not to everyone's tastes as it is kind of trance heavy but I created a playlist based off Hariba radio with 1-2 of the tunes from TDU2 in there https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6dqbYQBiCy2vgwEr5nCnBq?si=39cb966434b94d2d

Forgot that this was being made but didn't hold out much hope that it'd be any good compared to TDU original or that it'd be out on time. It's not surprising that it's been delayed. Hopefully we'll get some kind of gameplay videos soon showing what the graphics look like.

I'm probably in a minority, but I preferred TDU1 over TDU2. I really didn't care too much for all of the casino/social stuff in TDU2 and although TDU1 was never at the forefront of vehicle physics/handling (I actually enjoyed the Hardcore mode aside from the jumping aspect) there were some debatable characteristics for at least a few of the cars in TDU2. For example, I know that on release (perhaps even now) the MK6 Golf GTI used to infuriate a lot of people in TDU2 because it had ridiculous amounts of lift-off oversteer as in it was borderline broken, I learned to work around that issue in the Golf, but in general the vehicle handling just felt like it wasn't designed to be fun.

In TDU1 I changed my character's clothes once, I think I bought the most expensive black suit and never bothered with clothes again after that, poor bloke probably absolutely reeks by now. I bought houses purely because I needed more garage slots for the cars I wanted rather than because they had a better layout or a better view out of the window. I just wanted to be able to blitz around a big island with some fun physics, back in the day it was all about drifting for me and I don't think that was anywhere near as fun in TDU2. My most driven (drifted) car in TDU1 was the RUF Rturbo from the Megapack, but I know from the TDU forums I was on that there were people out there with 5x the mileage on their favourite cars. I did enjoy somehow ending up getting the game nearly a week before release because I'm pretty sure I took a punt on an eBay seller who actually turned out to be legit despite the sketchy looking listing, I remember being worried that the game key would get blocked after being activated early (I was only mid-teens at the time), but after starting to drive around and seeing other people in game I soon forgot about that and got on with enjoying the game. While playing the game I somehow managed to fry one of the 7600GTs that I was running in SLI at the time which wasn't quite an enjoyable time when you weren't earning real money to get yourself back up and running. In general, just lots of memories from the first game that weren't replicated or improved upon. Nostalgia.jpeg

As long as more effort is put in to the driving and stuff like casinos and social parties isn't pushed on you at every possible chance it could be something to look forward to.

I'm with you on TDU v TDU2. I never liked the casino/social aspect that came into TDU2. The extra island was good fun and newer cars but TDU was, and always will be, a classic for me.

I used to play it every summer for a few days. I had problems with one of the patches screwing things up and wouldn't work again unless I re-installed Windows. I keep meaning to install Virtual Box, set up a W7 virtual PC and do a few days gaming but just haven't got round to it.

Yeah the Golf in TDU2 has ridiculous lift off oversteer - it can be tamed on a good wheel but controller or keyboard it is pretty LOL. A couple of other games ( i.e. 3rd party mods for AC) people have modelled that model Golf handling with the same characteristics so there is probably a technical document somewhere which has something wrong or people have interpreted wrong.

Some other cars are pretty much spot on their real world feel with stability control in operation.

I kind of struggle to stay interested in the stream and there didn't seem to be much meat when it came to TDU - I was kind of tuned out by that point though.

TBH I'd pay good money just for a TDU2 remake with graphical enhancements and refinement of the mechanics of the game both driving wise and gameplay.

It would be a gorgeous looking game with updates to the water/water physics and ray traced reflections and lighting, etc. the waterfalls for instance hugely detract from the graphics.
