Test Drive Unlimited Gameplay Thread

Right. Finally got the game and had a good bash at it today.
Loving it so far. Started with an Alfa Romeo and now got 4 cars including a Lamborghini Muira P4000SV which I managed to pick up for $179k from the marketplace (I think this was a bargain as all the others were $400k+)

I've done over 200 miles and I'm up to 'Pro' but I'm completely skint and out of car spaces.

Not had too much trouble with missions and races so far though I've failed a few courier missions; 11+ miles in 7 minutes is hard! I'm hoping once I've got a fast ferrari or something these will become easier?

What do I need to do Vogon to come join the club?

its easy once you get a half decent car. Used a lambo for most of the game (well as much as humanly possible) and wasn't particularly trying on the challenge missions, just caned it :)

I would be down to the shop and tell them you got no map.

Unless it was a limited offer but cant see it.

The map is a must for this game.

There are several scans of the map floating about on the tinterweb. But having the actual paper map is best.

OMG WTF ? has anyone tried the force feedback yet ?

i could write a better FF program than this.....

there is no feel to it, it goes light then REALLY heavy with no warning. then i keep getting tank slappers at high speed on the straights ?

it really really wierd.

i messed about with the settings a lot and i got it a bit better but it's just hideous, i had to turn it off, also tried a few different cars

tell me i am wrong....please :(

EDIT: it seems i am not alone http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=50857

It was ordered on-line from a competitor. Guess I could try getting in touch with them but don't hold much hope. :(

If anybody else has recently bought the game I would interested to know for sure if if should still be included.

Bought the game recently, no map. Although a mate bought one a few months before me and had a map included, so I stole his :p

They've just released a patch:

http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/03/08/in-game-content-test-drive-unlimited.aspx

Name: Hardcore Mode
Price: 160 Points
Availability: All Xbox Live regions
Dash Details: Reach Champion status and get access to all new Hardcore Mode, especially designed for the Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel (also plays with standard controller), featuring ultra-realistic driving physics!
Size: 5 MB (approx)

Bit cheeky asking money for it, albeit only £1.36.

Finally an F40, and I buy it only to find I can't have a yellow one (painting not allowed).

Can't upgrade it either :( can't say any of the cars in this pack were much cop, I quite like the Cadillac but the rest are a bit... meh.

With the PC version being released I was inspired to again go back to TDU, was just generally messing around in the Miura doing not much. I got lucky though and one of the Euro Classic Dealers had a Ferrari 288GTO in stock, I'd been waiting ages to get one so bought it immediately.
Tonight will consist of pointless driving around... :D

All of the car dealerships are on the map you get in *** game case. THe one i missed was the Pontiac garage at the bottom left of the map.

I didnt get a map :(
Looking on the internet images of maps theres a meant to be a Lexus one near the Noble/Mclaren one but i dont see it.

Got the Pontiac one

Yes theres a LExus garage just to the left of where the Noble one is, IIRC its on one of the main roads, shouldnt take longer than 10 mins to find.

Stu

If you add me as friends (Gezzard), I'll send out invites, although I don't think any of us in it have actually met up online yet to do any of the interclub races.

I downloaded the pack myself last night and found that whilst the F40 looks to have been painstakingly (sp?) modelled the other cars seems to have been done in a tea break.

The S6 is rubbish, Its no quicker than the 4.2 quattro already in the game.

Also why can't the F40 be tuned?! Its very odd/
