The 2010 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

Chilli Focus > Tomato Feed >>> Baby Bio!

You should need to feed seedlings as a seedling pellet has enough nutrients for a month of growth by which time you'll be repotting probably thus adding fresh compost.

No nutes for 4 weeks as soil should be enough, then another 4 when u repot.

And defo no baby bio its crap.

If u wana use owt use tomatorite when flowering.

It's been a few weeks and my Dorset Naga's are starting to show more growth

They're growing a second set of leaves and have all germinated!

Have 3 or 4 starting to come on. Had a wee bit of a upset with the one which was coming on best though, I had it set on a cill to get the sun which also happened to be in reach of my 3 year old who pulled it out of the soil. Wilted back a bit but think it'll pick up ok.

here are my current crop, that seem to be growing anyway. i have five pots with plants in, but these three seem to be progressing better than the other two.. please tell me, do they look healthy? is my compost too wet maybe? im not sure if im over watering.

i think this next one is just coming out of the ground, i was going to give it a helping hand and pull the head up slightly to free it from the ground but i thought i best not incase i break it.

I've just re-potted my scotch bonnets which I grew from chillies bought from tesco. Coming along nicely, the largest have good leaves and are about 6 inches high. 6 varieties all told:

Scotch Bonnet
Anaheim
Demon Red
Tabasco
Hungarian Hot Wax
Jalapeno

Just used a couple of Jalapenos on a litlle pizza, delicious! The flat is now overrun by chilli plants!

I'm going to have to make some sort of greenhouse as Ive now started germinating 20 tomato seeds. I only have a small window that gets sun.

Luckily I can get hold of panes of glass quite easily.

Going on holiday for 6 days and hate it cos I'm worried about the plants. I will take the big ones like the naga out the direct light for that time, which isn't ideal but it won't be as thirsty that way. Anything else I can do to stop all out death?

my plantlings haven't had much sun yet..unfortunately its been bloomin cloudy over the past few days. :( i hope there is going to be some sun tomorrow so it gives them a bit of a boost!

Should be fine if watered before u go. Tho u not got family or neighbours that can pop in and water the plants or they can take them for a bit?
